I can't find the census with him living with Martha. It must have been 1891 or 1901.
It's a bit confusing when Mary has so many names. She had children with STEWART and is the daughter of MCGREGOR so I don't know where Robertson fits in.
LAter she has a granddaughter called Robertson. I'll post that census now

I am looking again at Mary McGregor:

her death shows: 1907 was Mary McGregor Stewart Robertsons death....cert gives her parents as Peter and Catherine McGregor ms McLeish and is witnessed by Jessie Garland (daughter).

She is on a census with William Robertson as his sister. He is on a later census living with his wife Martha.

I am trying to find out how he is her sister and called Robertson and where the name Robertson comes in.

So I need to find out who William Robertson's parents are. He was born about 1849/1850 Blairgowrie Perth. I would be grateful if someone looks this up please

Off the top of my head, I can't remember when they started to index the mother's maiden surname on the births. It may be worth trying to see if they had done so by 1927.Ross is such a commonly occuring surname that it would be very expensive to buy every certificate that MAY be relevant. Births after 1910 are not available to view online - you need to order the certificates or go in person to the GROS in Edinburgh.

Just out of interest, I have had a look and between 1927 and 1950 there were 477 Ross births registered in Dundee City. Needle and haystack stuff!
