I think you will find from his marriage cert that his dad WAS Angelo Dinelli , courier ,deceased which ties with all the info we have have given you.
Like many he anglicised his christian name.

Someone has a tree on Ancestry... it's locked but does show this;

The name change would have happened due to the fact he lost both his parents early in life, his name was of a more Italian persuasion and he was living in London... why not change it to maybe feel that he "fit in"?
