Thanks everyone

Rootgatherer funnily enough I had a look on there last night and will be buying some credits to look, I think that Archibald's parents are James and Margaret McLuckie (but will check his marriage details first) as there are also some census records for them too.

Wish I could find my own Campbells on there so easily !

rootgatherer Report 2 Nov 2010 15:54

That's great Janet! James and Margaret's marriage is on the beta.familysearch site. The christenings for the children are there but I don't see Archibald b. 1840 but there is one born earlier so he must have died.

If you are looking for deaths for James and Margaret, look for Margaret's first as you can use both surnames to search. Her death certificate should say if she was "married to" or "widow of" and that will narrow death dates for James. Good luck.

Janet

Janet Report 2 Nov 2010 16:22

Narrowed a bit by fact that archie's marriage cert says his father is deceased so died before 1869 (although I know that's not always the case)

Janet

Janet Report 2 Nov 2010 20:18

Margaret McLuckie's death record says mmn also Graham.........

how do i deal with that one !

she died 19/12/1876

rootgatherer Report 2 Nov 2010 21:39

Hi Janet - have a look on that beta site again, I had actually suspected that Margaret's mother's maiden name would be Graham! Not as uncommon as you may think! First cousins often married. What were her parents' names please?

Janet

Janet Report 2 Nov 2010 22:11

James Graham and Margaret Graham (ms Graham)

is that what it says ms?

James' profession was a farmer

What I meant was, that when the said margaret mcluckie (nee Graham) died in 1876 it said her father was James Graham and her mothers maiden name was also Graham so I am looking for her parents a marriage between two Grahams?

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 4 Nov 2010 17:48

From the information on the death certificate - yes. you are looking for a Graham - Graham marriage.

Graham is a fairly common surname in the Falkirk / Stirlingshire area so it is quite likely that a Graham would marry a Graham.

On this thread there is mention of a marriage between Alice Eckley and a Willliam P Peridy, no trace can be found in the name of Peridy after that date.

The marriage is Dec quarter 1872 Manchester Cathedral

Could it be that this William Peridy is in fact the William Peters who appears on the 1891 census with wife Alice and could there be an error in the bmd list for this marriage ?

This same family appear on 1901 census in West Derby Lancs (minus William) but with same children I noticed that one is called Hypatia which is a pretty unusual name and how I found them.

Thanks I have purchased the image of the Graham/Graham marriage from Scotland's People and almost the entire page is for soldiers

any ideas on the query about Alice and William?

Mary

Mary Report 18 Feb 2011 09:26

Hi Janet It looks like the same family to me.
Don't know where william was in 1901 but Alice is still down as married.

It looks as though William Peter Peridy just dropped his last name.
Peridy may also have been mistranscribed as I can't find anything on him and there is no original view for marriage record.

In 1881 he is William Peter house painter.Born Scotland. Also with them is Sarah McCluche 1845 sister in law so thats another clue that it is the same William Peter Peridy.

1911 20,Redbourn Street Anfield Liverpool
George william Rowson 1883 Ships cook
Mary Rowson 1884
Hypatia Carey married born 1886 sister in law she married George F Carey in 1910.
William Peters 1892 single brother in law ships steward.
