Member Since: August 2009 Posts: 3 Send Message	My great-great grandmother was Ann Jolly, born 1840 in Ribby with Wrea, Fylde. I have an image of Ann Jolly's marriage certificate which shows the bride's father as "John Hardman, occupation Soldier." Her mother was Agnes Jolly, born 1819 in Ribby with Wrea. As far as I can tell, John Hardman never lived in Ribby, so it is likely to have been a case of "ships which pass in the night" - or in his case, infantry which passes in the night. If John Hardman was a soldier who was in Lancashire in the late 1830s it is possible he was in the 47th Lancashire Regiment of Foot, which had returned to the UK in 1829 from overseas service, and was sent out to Greece to the Ionian Islands in 1850. This is just a guess, though. Obviously I have no idea of his age, but I am guessing he was a similar age to Agnes, which would make him born around 1819. I would like to trace John Hardman but I have very little to go on.
