Ginny - maybe the only emigrant was Emma? It is very interesting though that 'family legend' has Emma in Australia with a sister Margaret - now clearly that must be wrong for I can find no reference to Margaret Hallett in these,. and i am sure we have the right Halletts - everything else fits. I then wondered whether Margaret had morphed from Martha - but that doesn't seem to be the case either. Strange! Certainly the 'other' Hallett who had emigrated to Australia married a guy called Mr Rendell - about whom I know little else. The name Rendell though has become a family second name - so they were influential. |

Now that is interesting. I cannot think that there would be two Halletts with the same Parental names both called Elizabeth and christened in the same place only 20 months apart. Clearly however it must be the case. I need to check all birth records for the period - also deaths to see whether there was a very young death at that time? |

Thanks - - they are found in Liverpool in 1891 - but that same year the family emigrated to Australia. Conrad had married Pauline Carlin in 1891, just before they sailed. Conrad and Pauline returned to the UK and settled in Liverpool almost immediately however, and are found in the 1901 and 1911 census details in Liverpool. My father appears in the 1911 census -Walter Rendell Pedersen, born in 1902. The other brothers and parents stayed in Australia. Christian served in the First World War and was killed in 1917. |

Ginny - another great big thank you for all this research. I have a lot to go on again and will go through all of this very carefully. Can I just ask one thing? You seem to have access to Australian information which I do not appear to have a access to. Are you using other sites for this or is it all through Genesreunited? The information I have from shipping has always come via Australian researchers and help - and I seem unable to find it. |
