Salford seems more likely but again the marriage certificate would prove her dob

William's birth certificate would prove his parents names and one of Isaac's marriage certificates Isaac' father's name and Isaac's birth year

It would be almost impossible to identify Isaac on the 1901 & 1911 census without proving these details

it seems he was fleetwood then barton upon irwell then grimsby

sorry, i cant remember, probably looking at Isaac Rowes father being Isaac too c1936 from cornwall (he's probably wrong then after all)!!

As both Fleetwood and Grimsby were big fishing ports at the time the occupation of fisherman seems v possible. William's birth cert would prove it.

So we can discount probably the Isaac James in Devonport and concentrate on Isaac in Lancashire??

Where did the James (aka Isaac) bit in your first post come from?

his mother died 1920, and he was brought to grimsby by his dad, i assume isaac and left in orphange in grimsby 1920/21, i think his dad was a fisherman.

Please tell us how you first learnt about Isaac/James Rowe. What was the first document or record that you found him on? How sure are you that he is your ancestor?

started off from Henrietta priestley, died 1920, mother of william rowe born 1918, he was orphaned 2 yr old. He was born flyde, so I have got Isaac from the marriage of Henrietta, I am going mad!!

As things seem to be rather confused here Caroline please can you tell us the point you started from to arrive at Isaac James in your family

It is a basic rule never to trust someone else's tree unless they have detailed their own proof from certificates etc

You can end up going round in circles and following completely the wrong family. The same names are often more common than you would think

You are right Madmeg, I was giving the extra detail to show that William's birth and Henrietta's death were in the same place. Fylde is a very large area of which Fleetwood is one of the sub-districts.

lancashirebmd.org.uk gives the registration sub-district but freebmd gives the full registration district

I have found the mother maiden name of Litton for Isaac James Rowe, (from another members tree of relation - he was born St Thomas 1867. I think I have been on the wrong track!

Chipping in, Lancashire Ann has given you two references for the same death. One is the GRO reference, the other is from Lancashire BMD. Same death, you need different references according to where you might choose to order the death cert from. She was just comparing the two, I guess, for extra evidence.

i dont understand why the same person died fylde and fleetwood?

To clarify, Henrietta died 1920 age 31 years, william died 2000.

Henrietta death was also Fleetwood
