Trying to find marriage details of James 1888 (aka Isaac) Rowe to Harriet Greenhaulgh Grimsby 1931, He married priestley in 1918 barton upon irwell. I was also wondering if he maried previously in 1912 Devonport, where James aka isaac was born

There does not appear to have been any children born from the Rowe/Priestley marriage but it looks possible that the Rowe/Greenhalgh union may have produced a child born in Barton in 1944.

all that seems interesting if Isaac Rowe did marry Dean his first wife 1912, could be somebody elses marriage because he definatley married Priestley 1918 and produced a child William Rowe 1918, then died 1920, where Isaac appeared Grimsby and married his wife Greehalgh. Can we find out if he divorced Dean at all, surely he cant have married 1918 already married!! and be having children with two different wormen! Rowe/Greenhalgh lived Grimsby, you say a child born Barton, would that be Lincolnshire or barton upon irwell? Do we know when he migh have died?

The 1944 birth was registered in the Barton registration district in Lancashire.

Due to the cost involved in 1918 divorce was not really an option unless you were well off .

If so where did the child die in 1920 as I cannot spot the death of a 1 or 2 year old William Rowe during that year.

As I stated before the only way forward is to obtain copies of all 3 marriage certificates to try to discover whether the groom was the same man in each. Clues such as his fathers name/occupation and the grooms own occupation, stated age and signature might help to decide.

where did you get the name James from and decided he was actually Isaac please.

Only in the Devonport marriage is there an indication of a middle name - he is just Isaac on the other 2

To clarify, Henrietta died 1920 age 31 years, william died 2000.

i dont understand why the same person died fylde and fleetwood?

Chipping in, Lancashire Ann has given you two references for the same death. One is the GRO reference, the other is from Lancashire BMD. Same death, you need different references according to where you might choose to order the death cert from. She was just comparing the two, I guess, for extra evidence.

I have found the mother maiden name of Litton for Isaac James Rowe, (from another members tree of relation - he was born St Thomas 1867. I think I have been on the wrong track!

You are right Madmeg, I was giving the extra detail to show that William's birth and Henrietta's death were in the same place. Fylde is a very large area of which Fleetwood is one of the sub-districts.

lancashirebmd.org.uk gives the registration sub-district but freebmd gives the full registration district

As things seem to be rather confused here Caroline please can you tell us the point you started from to arrive at Isaac James in your family

It is a basic rule never to trust someone else's tree unless they have detailed their own proof from certificates etc

You can end up going round in circles and following completely the wrong family. The same names are often more common than you would think

started off from Henrietta priestley, died 1920, mother of william rowe born 1918, he was orphaned 2 yr old. He was born flyde, so I have got Isaac from the marriage of Henrietta, I am going mad!!
