Stop scratching your head ,you look like Stanley out of Laurel and Hardy...

Lizzie P Evans on Griffiths marriage confirms it to me.
She is daughter of John Evans and Elizabeth Price and niece to William Evans and Mary Price.
Therefore cousin to Griffith.

Elizabeth Price /Pryse age 3 on the 1861 census is Lizzie/Elizabeth Price Evans mother who on 1891 is married to John Evans brother of William Evans who married Mary Price.

Ages on census nor marriage can be relied on utterly as you know.

As I said earlier.
You have 2 Evans brothers(William and John) marrying 2 Price sisters (Mary and Elizabeth)by the evidence on here.

And the marriage cert that I have posted of John Evans and Elizabeth Price will prove it(I hope)
As it should have the same fathers details for the bride and groom on as the one for Mary Price and William.Evans in 1872.

Yep ..I am now starting to cry........

Wish I had a better way of being able to describe my workings and thoughts...

Going away to visit parents/sons/grandchildren for a few days tomorrow (Somerset) so you have some time to figure it all out and trace back on census to help you see what I am saying.

So byeee Wales the home of my heart and hello Somerset the home of my family for a few days.

One thing that was bothering me was the fact that Lizzie P. was 3 and William and Mary already had Griffith who was 3 also so this would make the fact that William was Lizzies daughter less likely. Would the situation where she was a niece therefore be more probable? Still looking at info scratching my head by the way!!!

Hi again Fan,
Amazing! I am going to have to write all this down to make sense of it.Seriously. I cannot, for love nor money, grasp these things like you. Still, I can see what you mean but I need to put it all into little boxes in my head. One thing though, dont laugh, I expect you want to cry, re the above info - who is the Elizabeth aged 3 in the 1861 census? She would be 23 in the 1881 census. I get the Mary bit, she is 9 though and in the 1881 census she puts her age as 26 although I suppose a few years diff back then was no big deal, was it? I really like the bit about adding Price and Elinor at baptism. Would never, ever, in a million years thought of that - makes perfect sense. Right going back to the info you have taken so much time to provide, to try and get my head around the whole thing. Esp bit about Ellizabeth being neice and the brothers and Howell etc.
By the way, on Griffiths marriage cert she is down as Lizzie P. Price, does this help? I will send off for the marriage cert and also birtth cers and will let you know.
Will add a post when I understand a little better,
cheers,
Ken

But there is this 1891 entry that could be Elizabeth Price Evans.

So do we have 2 brothers marrying 2 sisters I ask and Lizzie/ Elizabeth Price Evans is in fact Niece to William and Mary?

Very likely I suspect as I think that Howell may be brother of John and William as he is on the 1881 census with the people whom I think are William Evans parents in Montgomery.

You KNOW that these are the correct Evans family in 1881.They also carry the names of the Price/Pryse family so there fore they HAVE to be connected inn my mind, they also of course live almost next door to each other.
Plus they ALL come from Llanafan ,Aberystwyth as Mary E Evans born 1874 says she does.
It was quite common place for daughters to go home to mother to have their first child so its very feasible that happened here and then the whole family upped sticks and moved to Glamorgan.

Elizabeth P Evans then turns up on 1901 visiting her father at the Watkins, true she is down as a visitor, but I bet my bottom dollar she is his daughter.

And she was also a witness at the marriage of Griffith.

But her marriage cert in 1902 to Mr Need would confirm her father at least as I can not be right ALL the time...!.

Help! I dont get it! I am trying very hard. Are you saying that John and Eleanor Price in no. 26 Greenfield Row are the parents of Mary in no. 45?
Who are the parents of Elizabeth Price Evans and where does she come into it? After the 1881 census where she is at no. 26 I dont think she reappears until 1900 when she is the witness at Griffiths wedding(son of William).
Also I was wondering how come they got married in Merthyr and then the eldest daughter mary was born back in Llanafan.
Any chance you can spell it out for me Fan?
Having said that I know you are really busy so no prob if you dont have time and thanks again for all you have done. im sure ill get there eventually.

I have phoned the reg office and they do not have a marriage of a Mary Price to a Wlliam Evans in the right time span at all.

I have studied the 1881 census of William and Mary Evans and I really dont think it says Llanwnnen but Llanafan as her birth place, as Mary E 1874 gives on the1891 census.

Llanafan comes under the Aberystwyth reg district as was found by Cristine and Patricia on your other thread of the 9th of September.

http://www.genesreunited.com/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1239198

Which I found after searching for things and googling to see if anything came up to help with the word LLanafan on any other sites.

The marriage cert in 1872 therefore seems right as the child Elizabeth Price Evans is there with her grandparents John Price (mason)
And Elinor.
Elinor being the second name of Mary on her marriage cert.
And visiting her father in 1891.
Also all the family names are carried through to her children as are William Evans,s.

Father Evan Evans and probable mother Elizabeth as per the 1861 census below(Farmer looking better than Farm Lab on your marriage cert of course)
Also on 1871 you can add Edward to the list of names carried through.
And the address in 1881 for Evan and Elizabeth is is this

Address:
Bryn R Efail, Llanfair-Caereinion

I really do wish I had known of your other thread on the family before doing so much searching as it would have saved a lot of time .
A message added to the other thread would have brought it to the attention of people again and all the info on it would have helped a great deal.
Which is why GR ask that you do not post the same family twice.

One of these will be the birth of Mary E 1874 on census I believe as they are the only ones available on freebmd to be her

Births Jun 1873
EVANS Mary Elizabeth Aberystwith 11b 73

Births Mar 1874
Evans Mary Eliza Aberystwith 11b 69

IF she WAS born in Llanafan Cardiganshire as she says of course

If you require more help on this family please would you stick with one of your threads that are already here and have all the relevant info to help trace back.

Thank you

What I am saying about that marriage is that it is not where it should be amongst all those Wrexham ones and also there are not enough Grooms on the page for the amount of Brides.

So who is the missing Groom for Mary Price?

William Evans we hope...

Goodnight .

Lets see about the one in 1875 in Lampeter reg district with no groom to go with it on Monday.

Sarah Evans on 1891 is born LLanfair Montgomery as well ,not Llangain as transcribed so you look right about her being family, and prob is his sister?

Checked the index for the Mary Price marriage in 1875 and it is hand written at the bottom of the page ,so that is why it is out of place.

Looks good to me as it is most definatley Lampeter.
Just pray its not sub district Llanllwni or Pencarreg and therefore at Carmarthen ,,,they are not quick at searches.6 week wait I had last time..!

But this is it on freebmd

Its no prob as I really like the lady and I havent heard how her hols went yet..

I think its where we should start anyway.

If she turns up nothing then we have a rethink.

I will have a look at all the census I can find and see what I come up with.
But if you have been at it for 6 months could you give me a few days ????:))

I will post anything I find that is looking good and let you know as soon as I have news from the reg office

I think you have the right census for 1891. It cause me a nightmare ages ago because Griffith is the one I was looking for -he is my great grandfather. I eventually found Griffith aged 13 in hospital that night! I think it was the Cardiff Royal Infirmary. I assume Sarah Evans, who is boarding has maybe come to help him after the loss of his wife.
If you want to look at the 1901 census William is boarding with Albert Watkins of no. 10 Railway Terrace. he was born in Worcestshire. Should be easy to find..... and yes please, i would love you to help me. I've been on this for about six months now without exaggeration!!! Driving me mad for sure.
If you could speak to reg office that would be amazing.
cheers,
ken
