Pleased to be of assistance..;)

I like putting stuff down on a thread as well as it lays it all out and is there at a glance ...I agree its good to think out loud like this and it does help when people help to confirm things with you...

1908 COX JAMES R MEEK AGNES BLYTHSWOOD GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/10 0657

This marrige cert from Scotlandspeople.......pay per view only............will give you Agnes Meeks age and parents name to be able to follow her back.

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Jun 2012 12:53

You can also look for them on 1911 census of Scotland at Scotlandspeople .......pay per view only.........to try and find where and when she was born..

You will not really be able to get anywhere for certain without that marriage cert..

Personally I would look at the marriage cert first as then you may be able to locate her on 1901 census at sub sites or for free at FamilySearch..

It is of no use looking on Freebmd as all born in Scotland (except Matthew who is born Ireland)so therefore SP only will have BMDs unless you can find some for free on Familysearch..

Have you tried there at all?

Its free.

Agnes Meeks birth cert ,from SP,will give you where and when her parents married..Good luck.

Agnes Meek birth was reg in Port Glasgow in 1887 on Scotlandspeople...

Matthew Meek and Mary Smith married in 1873...
Which I found by doing a free search and narrowing down the year until the correct one is found..
Again on SP for which you need credits...
But the record will give you a lot of info to work with...Far more than an English or Welsh one..

It is here also

familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XYQD-182

But only the bare minimum of details...

Percy /Pierce Cox c1844 was born Ireland....The only place you can look for free really is Familysearch I think...

Unless his marriage is on SP which can be searched for free but need credits to view.
Im not good at Irish and the records available for them are very hit and miss....Sorry.

Scottish and Welsh is what I know best about...Not a lot then either...

Good Luck
