Gwyn in Kent: No just says "son present at death" - he may have lived there? I'd never heard of him before so it was a surprise to me. Thank you! |

ErikaH ... The death of Kate Robson, certificate was registered by J A Acton, Occupier of house. Her occupation Housekeeper Domestic. Having looked at it previously, I believed this man could be the father of her child. She died of Typhoid fever and heart failure after confinement. |

William was therefore born 1897-ish (1896 according to 1939 Register) - so probably is indeed William "Pearson" , who was 4 in 1901 and 14 in 1911. |

I think that William married Minnie then the same year she died, 1935, he married Minnie's sister Enid Mary. I believe their maiden name was Spencely/Spenceley. |

There’s a Probate for William Robson - 1958, NOT 1968, with widow ENID |

Are you sure that the birth for May Marion is the correct one? |

If I understood you correctly, you said that the 1925 death cert said that she was the widow of John Robson. |

Thanks everyone! MAY ROBSON was my grandma, my father was JAMES SAMUEL. May's mother Kate Robson was present at his birth in 1916 - it's stated on his birth certificate. So she was alive then and died 1925. I sent for the birth cert for MAY MARION and no father or occupation noted, just crossed out (born 24 May 1894). Also named on this certificate is her mother as KATE ROBSON but recently found headstone in local cemetery that gives her the name CATHERINE ROBSON. On all the certs I have she is always "Kate" but I do know the Catherine on the stone is the correct one because the stone is next to my other relatives and the local Bereavement Services confirmed the address as where my dad was born. I sent for the death certificate of Kate Robson that seemed to match but then on receipt of this she died in 1900 so that' that one ruled out. |

Well, at least the 1900 death is not that of the Kate "Pearson" in the 1911 census. |
