Hi Ozibird.
Yes I had given that some thought but this is where the research is a great problem.
Until I can find a birth record I am unable to find out who his mother is. I have been tearing my hair out these past 9mths hence the continued brick wall which I cant find my way around.
Kind regards DVP

Hi Vera
I hope our lines are not crossed & I have not missread your reply or misslead you in any way.
My James born c1862/3 married Margaret A Faregrave on 18th June 1882. They had a son John / James born the same year of 1882.
Hope this helps

it may be his birth wasnt registered, many weren't so in 1875 in became an offence, with a fine, not to register a birth within 42 days, that time limit still applies now.

Hi Cathy
The Nicholson's are as much of a problem as the Androns as I can finf Johanna on the 1891 Census but can't find Joshua or his father.
It seems that all doors seem to be shut in me trying to find the Andron link to the elusive James born c1863.
My thinking was that if Johanna was his Aunt there must be a link to my Jamse's father. I was hopeing to find the link to the Andron family in the 1871 Census.
Kind regards DVP

Have you thought that the Nicholsons may not be related to the Andron family, but to his mother's family?

Just to recap.....you are trying to find the birth of John Andron born c1862/3 who married Mary in 1882..... not James...have I misread your thread.

Hi Cathy
very many thanks for the info as I have not got around to looking at the 1911 Census.
My problem is getting to the bottom of why I cant find a birth record for john Andron born c1862/3
This is why I turned my attention to tracing the Johanna Nicholson family in the hope that I may connect with an Andron line as John was described as her Nephew
Kind regards DVD

Hi Vera
Many thanks for reply. The James Andron birth 1b 657 is the son of John Andron marriage 1b 913.
It is the birth record for John who married in 1882 that is causing me the problem.
Kind regards DVP

Hi to everyone
Some time ago I contacted the records office for help tracing the parents of an Ancestor by the name of "JAMES ANDRON" born c1863 St Giles, Strand, London. Through that contact I recieved many suggestions & leads to follow & I thank you all for your time & input. Unfortunately I am still hitting a brick wall so have decided to take a different line of enquiry. I have once again hit another wall which I hope you may be able to help me with. I appologise in advance for the length of this enquiry but feel I need to set out my thinking so all can see where I am coming from. James Andron aged 20yrs married Margaret Faregrave 1882 London (I have the certificate) his fathers name was "James Andron". James born c1862 / 3 died in 1895 aged 32yrs (I have the certificate). I have never been able to find a birth registration for or a London MET Baptism for James born c1862 / 3. If I could I would then be able to find out who his mother was to enable me to get beyond 1862 / 3.
The 1871 Census show's an Andron family:- John Andron 40yrs born Ireland (Head) Mary Andron 34yrs Born Ireland (Wife) John Andron 15yrs Michael Andron 10yrs Jeremiah 4yrs JAMES Andron 3yrs Bridget Andron 2yrs Mary Andron 2yrs All the children born in Chiswick.
My heart tells me that this is the right family, my head tells me it can't be as the dates & place of birth of James are different. If it is the same James, being from Irish decent he would probably be a Catholic & that is why I cannot find him in the London MET records. So to try to prove one way or another I have changed tack in my research.
My James born c1882 / 3 had a son James who in the 1901 Census was aged 18yrs & described as "Nephew" & born in St Clements Danes, London was living with:- Johannah Nicholson 51yrs (head) Joshua Nicholson 18yrs (Son). With this in mind, either Johanna was his "Aunt" or her husband was his "Uncle" therefore Johanna would have been an ANDRON or his uncle from an Andron decent. I have found what I believe to be Joshua's Baptism record in the London MET records:- Joshua William Nicholson, Baptised on 23rd June 1882 in the Parish of St Botolph, Aldersgate, London City. Father William Nicholson. Mother Johanna Nicholson. From this I believe I have found Johanna & William's marriage certificate:- July 6th 1874 in the Parish of St Bartholomew, Moor Lane, London City. William Nicholson 27yrs a Batchelor married Johanna Thomas 24yrs a Spinster. Williams father was also named William Nicholson , a Labourer & Johanna's father was a William Thomas, a Commercial Traveler. That blew that theory out of the water. I have not been able to find Joshua in the 1891 Census & not knowing where William was born makes searching for him on the Census very difficult, bearing in mind he was a Commercial traveler.
I have tride many different spellings of the names Andron, Nicholson & Thomas to see if I can find any marriage connections & have found what I belive to be a possible connection was back in 1812 where a Jane Nicholson married a James Andren or Andrew (depending on how you transcribe the writing) in the Parish of St Andrew, Holborn, London. I think this is going to far back for James to be calling Johanna his Aunt.
Any help or advise would be greatfully recieved, perhaps it's just a case of not seeing the wood for the tree's
Once again I appologise for the length of this appeal.
