Sorry - I had to go out - I did find this before I went on 1851 Mary, (before the marriage). It would fit with Louisa's birthdate and place but I didn't have time to follow it further.
1851 England Census about Louisa Walton Name: Louisa Walton Age: 21 Estimated birth year: abt 1830 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: William Mother's Name: Mary Gender: Female Where born: Sambourn, Worcestershire, England Civil parish: Studley County/Island: Warwickshire Country: England Registration district: Alcester Sub-registration district: Studley ED, institution, or vessel: 4d Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 105 Household Members: Name Age William Walton 43 Needlemaker Mary Walton 49 Louisa Walton 21 ...Needlemaker William Walton 17 Henry Walton 15 Julia Walton 11 Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 2075; Folio: 80; Page: 26; GSU roll: 87344.

Mary,
That is the Thomas I was looking at too - parents John + Louisa!
I haven't yet 'proved' anything but I have found a possible death for Bridget and re-marriage for John which may fit:
Bridget died in 1855!!!!!
Deaths Mar 1855 Farrer Bridget Liverpool 8b 131 .............. Then John re-married?
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1858 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference FARRER John WALTON Louisa Liverpool, St. Paul Liverpool 2120LP/5/34
I am still working on it.
Perhaps you can see something more?

So if you have Thomas's birth certificate ,does it definately say dad John and Bridget mother. What was the address on the certificate.
Have you got them on 1861/71 census etc.
I can only find one thomas 1853/4 liverpool to dad John 1861 and then his name is thomas farrer born 1819 Padstow Yorkshire married to louisa born 1828 in Worcestershire.
John 1819 and Thomas 1819 are one in the same person.

What I can tell you is that on that 1851 marriage reference for John Farrer is that he married Mary Redman so there is little point in you ordering that one if you are looking for a Bridget Salmon.
This is confirmed by Lancs Bmd site: Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1851 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference FARRER John REDMAN Mary Manchester, Oldham Road, St. Barnabas Manchester 86/1/81

Hi Tooty Fruity - as my post above I think the page no for Bridget is 605.
I only have free access to FMP and have tried to search census using son Thomas but I cant find them at all!
Bridget Salmon sounds like she could be scottish or irish - maybe a search in these areas? I think from Ireland a common commute would bring you to Liverpool?

Hi Yvonne
Im not sure that they are 'your' couple. On the page for John Farrer, there are equal numbers of brides and grooms.
On familysearch there is a marriage of Bridget Salmon to Thomas Clarke in Dec 1851! Cross checking on FREEBMD using Thomas, there is a bride missing on the page 605!
That said, I am a relative novice whereas there are some very experienced people on here who love a good puzzle!
Good Luck!

Hi
I'm researching my husband's family and I'm trying to find the marriage of John Farrer b. abt 1828 to Bridget Salmon b. abt 1829. I have the birth certificate of their son, Thomas, b. 1853 in Liverpool. I looked on freebmd and could only find a marriage for John Farrer in Dec qtr 1851 in Manchester, ref 20/448 but there's no Bridget.. For Bridget Salmon the ref is given as Manchester 20/6-5. I looked on findmypast and found the ref for John but when I went to Bridget there's a big black mark over the reference. I actually spoke to the records office but they weren't very helpful and told me to just buy the marriage cert. Does anyone have any ideas?
Yvonne
