The reason I asked is that traditionally Scottish people tended to name their children in order after relatives. The first son would be named after the paternal grandfather, 2nd son after the maternal grandfather, 3rd son after the father, then onto paternal uncles then maternal uncles and likewise with the daughters but starting with the mother's side of the family. |

Out of curiosity I looked for the William and Margaret Miller that Peter Stephen mentions on the 1851 census and it gives William's occupation as a Master Gardener, may just be a coincidence though.... |
