I was saying that to hubby earlier - I had seen many babies - some only weeks old with pierced ears - I personally find that totally sickening !!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose it must be a 'culture' thing ! :-S :-S :-S

My daughter had her ears pierced when she was about 13 .................... I insisted that she show me that she could keep herself clean for many weeks before I agreed.

Several years later, she took my niece's daughter to have her ears pierced.

The daughter was about 8, but had pleaded and pleaded to have it done. My niece did the same as I had done ....................... V had to show that she could keep herself clean, especially her ears.

I don't seriously have anything against it ....................... as long as the child is old enough to do the cleansing care that is necessary.

AND that the parents are sensible about the type of earring the child wears, especially at school or when playing games.

Mind you ................ we see many babies over here with pierced ears. It's part of a certain culture.

My 9 year old grand-daughter 'might' have had her ears pierced today :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

I am SO against this but think that I might be being unreasonable on the subject. ??

I tried to talk her out of it but then left the matter closed because I didn't want to interfere !!

What do you all think ?

Hi all
xxx

we're having warm wet weather here ....... what's sometimes called the "Pineapple Express". It comes straight across the Pacific from Hawaii :-)

............... I've been clambering around the branches of OH's tree for the last few days, trying to put "fini" to the family in the early 1800s. Not easy!

I think I'm going to have to agree with myself that I have found everything that there is to find ............... even if it means that I do not know when A was born or when and where B and C got married!

I'm slowly getting back to normal ......... whatever "normal" is :-D

Take care everyone

Your lot are on a corner, going up hill in FF

I didn't get to the others over the other side of the cemetery. I will next time I go, I'll take JB with me as it was a bit scary when a bloke appeared out of the blue

Its a buddy big place and lots of the stones have crumbled

I've emailed friends of Burngreave to see where the F3 lot disappeared to!

Gin,

Sorry rain stopped play.

Thank you for remembering my lot, who reside in grave 2389 in Burngreave Cemetery. It will be interesting to see the headstone if there is one.

One cemetery that would be a nightmare to find your way round is the cemetery close to the Albion football ground. Not only is it extremely large now but it is constantly being enlarged to accommodate Muslim burials. Muslims of course disapprove of Cremation. Mind you its the place to go if ever you need to know in which direction Mecca is. ;-)

Gee Report 18 Feb 2014 14:30

Well, just spent the last 2.5 hours roaming around Burngreave cemetery

F3 section seemed to disappear after plot 78 so haven't found my lot in 103

Jonesey, I got about half way through FF section (looking for your lot) and had to leave due to rain

I will be going back at some time

Is it me or are cemetery maps so muddled you end going round in circles :-|

Morning all and thank you for breakfast :-D

Have been quiet cos have been busy Gins.

OH's back is, hopefully, continuing to improve. I insisted he lay flat yesterday and that does seem to have helped. At least the 'whimpering' has stopped..... :-D

As it is half term I will be seeing my daughter most afternoons but it all depends on how OH is at lunch time.

I will go and tidy round a bit and think I may wash the bathroom walls down - as you do!!

Be good..... :-D

Dea Report 18 Feb 2014 08:17

Good morning all :-)

Thanks for doing the toast Ginns - I am doing some scrambled egg, grilled mushrooms and bacon to put on mine so I will do extra in case anyone else wants any. <3

Glad OH's back is getting better Cynthia <3

You were very good doing all that 'sorting' yesterday Ginns - I have SO much to do that I can't bring myself to make a start ;-) :-(

Grandchildren day for me yesterday and they are on half term so we had them ALL day so a very early night was called for ;-) :-D :-D

See you all later,

Good morning everyone :-D

Dea, you just beat me to it.....and thank you for the breakfast. Mind you, how you can mention fish and then describe bacon, tomatoes and fried bread is beyond me. Absolutely no choice there for me.........excuse me whilst I crunch on the fried bread which is delicious. :-D

OH had a very sore back yesterday - he had attempted some DIY earlier in the week and had 'pulled' something in the lower back area and was really struggling. He couldn't tie his shoelaces so I volunteered my services. What did I do? Pulled it so hard it snapped!!!!

At one point, I didn't think he was going to make it to you-know-where but, with patience and perseverence we did it!! The painkillers helped and it seems a lot better this morning thank goodness. :-)

Ironing day today.... :-D :-D

Dea

Dea Report 17 Feb 2014 08:18

I don't remember those whiz bang things.......but I certainly remember the comics I used to get. School Friend and Girl....my aunt used to post them to me because she knew my parents weren't very well off. I can't tell you how much I used to look forward to them arriving - all done up in a roll.

I was such an avid reader and it took me into the realms of adventure and fun and stretched my imagination marvellously.....I think some children are missing so much these days :-(

A very busy day for me so I am off to bed.......night night....xx

Gin,

A very good result indeed. The Blades might even face the Owls in round 6.

Dea,

I remember those Whiz-Bangs. My weekly reading used to be the Beano, the Dandy and the Topper. If my memory serves there was a whiz-Bang given away free with the first ever issue of the Topper. As I got a bit older I graduated to the Eagle, Dan Dare Vs The Mekons and all that.
