Morning all :-D

Thanks for putting the kettle on Gins. Big day for the Blades? You mean you have cooked something which has turned out tough and it's going to be a challenge to slice it???? ;-)

Quick breakfast before I go you-know-where. It's a big day for 5 families there today........Baptisms....... :-)

Bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms for Dea........served on a 'bin lid' barm cake. That should keep her going for a short while.... ;-)

Eggy bread for Gins.....sounds as though she needs to keep her strength up!!

Mr P

The problem I'm not liking is that when you have entered your search info and clicked search, it doesn't show you all the info that you entered?

And what's all the stuff with the 'sliders' !!!!!! Guess it's the 'in thing'

Thank you Roy - Nice to see you on here <3

I have printed out your instructions and will put them to practice to see if it makes things any better.

I had found the advanced search on the new layout and what I meant to say was that I find it better to use this on the new page rather than the other search.

I am getting on with that O.K. but I still do not like the way the results show.

Not to worry, I will conquer it !

Gins, Ref Ancestry,

from my post on another thread, Hope it helps

I have also stuck with the old search because i found the new search hard to adjust to but the new search has changes from when it was first introduced and now you can still get almost all the eliments of the old style search

If you go to the homepage and hover over the search tab, then select say

Birth, Marriage & Death, including Parish

Then on the right of that page it lists "Narrow by Category" and "Featured data collections"

You can select which individuel records collection to search from these menu's as you could with the old search, So not that different to the old search

It works the same for all searches listed under the search tab on the main page

If you don't search a specific Category/collection then it will give you results for all Category/collections which is why you would get loads of unwanted results

Dea, You can still use the advanced search both on the main page or within a specific category or collection

The advanced search tab is still there for all searches

I agree Ginns. :-(

I am finding it 'slightly' better if you always use it on 'advanced search' but I really don't like it.

We will see................... ;-) :-0 :-S

Good morning all...... :-D

Looks like I had better get the kettle on and some bacon cooking. Can't have our Dea going hungry ;-)

There are some mushrooms, tomatoes and hash browns to go with it Dea and I've put out some crumpets for Gins.

I looked at Ancestry yesterday. Didn't like it at first but sort of got a bit used to it. I think it will be a case of practice makes perfect Dea. When anything is new, I tend to play about and experiment with it for a while. Trouble is, I get it sorted and then forget what I did.... :-D :-D

Sylvs.......you sound as though you don't know if you are coming or going. It's going to be so hard for your friend, especially as it isn't that long since she lost her husband. Stay strong.

I hope it clears up weatherwise here soon. I'd forgotten I'd brought my friends bedding back here to wash and iron.......I'd prefer to dry everything outside.

Hey ho.......... :-D

Have spent the day doing housework :-(

Two lots of washing done and at least another two to be done. I think it multiplies :-(

And no chance of getting it out to dry. we have had sun. rain. hailstones/snow and then more rain and more sun :-S

Made a start on clearing out wardrobes will finish tomorrow.

I do love a good old clear out :-D

Cynthia you would be proud of me ;-)

Plan a night sitting on my b**

Oh well, - Ancestry have finally done what they have been threatening for a very long time i.e. they have taken away the 'old search' facility !

Looks like I will be saving myself quite a lot of money soon :-0 :-S

I REALLY don't like it but I have until 21st June to decide but it looks like I will be cancelling my membership then and just using FMP in the future. :-(

I did like to have them both as each has it's different extra sections of information but I think I have already made my decision so it is their loss :-(

I wonder how many other people will feel the same ?

Good morning all.... :-D :-D

I'm like you about Bagels Dea.....I can't see the point in them somehow. I mean, who wants to eat something with a thumping great hole in it? Don't like ring doughnuts either.... :-(

However, the thought was there Gins......so thank you and, at least I've had a lovely coffee...... ;-)

The car was returned to us with the good news that there was nothing wrong with it :-D :-D :-D We will get the bill - presumably for the labour involved, today. It's a chap from you-know-where who has his own garage.

It's pouring down here....but supposed to be drier this afternoon - hope so as I have a load of washing to do.

I've had someone come and see about replacing my kitchen floor but am waiting for an estimate. The cost will be the over riding factor as to whether it IS actually replaced or not. :-S

Ah well, must stop wittering.......quick browse and then off I go...~~

Good morning all :-)

Thank you Ginns - that was a very nice thought but I REALLY don't like bagels so I will have a cup of your lovely tea and make a start on the cooking. <3

Bacon, eggs (poached, fried or scrambled), sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread.........

Porridge, as it's a dark, wet, nasty windy day out there...

Platters of assorted hams and cheeses.

Fresh bread rolls, crackers, toast (with a selection of our favourite spreads)...

Croissants, danish pastries, home made sultana scones with clotted cream and home made strawberry jam.

Assorted fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals..

Enjoy....................

See you all later,

Linda

Linda Report 6 Mar 2014 17:53

Our radiators were meant to be getting replaced today.

Only problem was that some stupid person "forgot" to put them on the delivery van :-S

Waiting to hear if they will be done tomorrow :-(

It is pouring with rain here and cold.

Gins when are your windows getting done?

Gee

Gee Report 6 Mar 2014 16:41

Dea

Dea Report 6 Mar 2014 09:57

Hi Cynthia,

Hope you don't need a lie down after you get the news on the MOT ;-) :-D :-D

Yes - DIL's father's problem was almost 2 years ago now - It happened towards the end of May 2012. - Doesn't time fly ! :-0

Hope you enjoy your dusting ;-) :-D
