Yes please Peter and may I have a lump of bread and cheese to go with mine like when we have cawl here in Wales.?

Elderflower smells like cat pee..

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 2 Jul 2010 16:12

I'll tell, provided you dont use it as dressing for your boiled rat!!!!

300ml custard - cheat and buy ready made
200ml Greek yoghurt
150ml double cream
150ml elderflower cordial
zest and juice of 2 limes

Bung it all in the ice cream machine and churn until 'softly scoopable'. Freeze until required - if it lasts that long.........

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 2 Jul 2010 16:14

Aint got an ice cream maker.

Blender any good?

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 2 Jul 2010 16:21

Might not freeze in a blender, Fans!!! Unless you put the blender in the freezer.........

Got a hand mixer?

Mix it together until it goes thick, freeze for an hour or so, take it out of the freezer, mix it up again to break down the ice crystals, back in the freezer for another hour or so - repeat process several times.....

Get bored and give up.

Alternatively, Ben and Jerry's is pretty good, although they don't do elderflower.

And Ginny - you need to put your glasses on. Condom flavoured ice cream indeed.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 2 Jul 2010 16:23

I will carry on with anything the Coop has then.
Cant be doing with all that mixing and then tooing and froing to the freezer as its out in a shed...

Gee

Gee Report 2 Jul 2010 16:33

How very dare you NL...I dont wear gigs...and it didnt stop me seeing that rat last night

Peter....you are disgusting

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 2 Jul 2010 17:09

Sorrrrryyyyyy Ginny - point taken about seeing rat without glasses.

Well, I've seen it all now.....

Teenage boy stressing about his Prom tonight - complaining about being too sweaty, walking round with tissue stuffed in his armpits so he doesn't get sweat marks on his shirt.

Perhaps Vainest Boy was a well deserved award!!!!

And I thought I had it easy not having girls.........

SlingerWood

SlingerWood Report 2 Jul 2010 17:12

FannyByGaslight Report 2 Jul 2010 17:17

NL.

My teenage boys, now all happily dispensed to other women, spent more time in the bathroom than me and now I have HID who does instead..
Youngest sounds much like yours as even now all I get when I see him is"DONT touch the hair"..As if ,with all that gel on it????

Also HID spends FAR more time gossiping over the fence than I ever have,in fact I dont gossip over the fence at all.

And men go on about women gossiping....Perleeease..

Hes gone out in garage now as he knows he has just ticked me RIGHT off and when I go quiet he knows its BAD..

Good riddance ,let him stay out there ,in fact I think I will take the blow up mattress and a sleeping bag out to him..

Gee

Gee Report 2 Jul 2010 17:23

Oh bless...NL he sounds just like my boy, he had his prom last year...moaned about sweat etc...

I was soo proud as all the boys got ready here and watching them walk down the drive in their suits....a tear in my eye

Peter...I will not look at youtube...you are still disgusting

And it sounds like a quiet night at Fanny Towers??

Poor poor HID's

Halter neck dresses were all the rage for us and the 'in' dance for a while, was 'The Stomp'.

Now then, thinking caps on please. Tis my son's 14th wedding anniversary next week. Apparently, 14 = ivory, gold jewellery and Dahlias. Any ideas for a suitable gift would be appreciated. Ta muchly.

Oh yes, before you start with the wisecracks, I know I won't be getting any elephant tusks etc.etc.etc.

hi all

we didn't have grad dances, proms or whatever in my day

Instead, all the schools in town had Christmas dances in December, for students in the 6th Form, plus some ex-students ................... and the head prefects from each school were invited to all the other schools' dances.

They were held in the school hall ......................... we sold tickets to the dance, and also had a collection to pay for a band to play, to decorate the hall, and provide some refreshments.

We got all dressed up, boys in suits, girls in puffy "cocktail" type dresses.

And we all walked or took the bus to the dance! In usually bloomin' cold weather!!

A group of us were thoguht to be really poofy in my last year

................ one of my friends suggested we go out for dinner. So 8 girls made reservations at one of the top restaurants in Oldham, got all dressed up, and had a great time .................... the father of one of the girls gave her money to buy a bottle of wine (we were all at least 18).

Then we all went home ....... no clubbing in those days!!!

off to mooch around

C

well, ivory is now illegal here anyway

......... so I can't wear the ivory necklace my m-i-l gave me which was bought by her husband in Alexandria during WW2

or the ivory earrings given to me by SA friends in the 1980s

all of course before the laws changed

Does son have a garden?? Does he like gardening?

If so, then a small collection of Dahlias

Although they do need some caring ...... most people dig up the tubers every autumn and over-winter them in a cool place (eg garage).

A Chinese hanging with Dahlias featured???

Sorry ladies - had to drop him off at the picking up point for the 'Party Bus' and for the photos to be taken.

I'm pretty sure the eldest boy had a Prom 12 years ago.

Yes, Ginny - ours was called a disco too - in the school hall and we were lucky if we got some crisps and a glass of coke.

It costs a bleeding fortune now - thank goodness he's my last one.

jax - checked oxford bags and satin jackets - sounds just like our school discos. Happy memories - snogging SR (he was soooo gorgeous) in the darkest corner I could find where the teachers wouldn't catch us. Hmmmmm - think he turned out to be gay in the end.

Oooooh dear Fans, this sounds v v v bad. Mine knows he's ticked me off when I go on a cleaning frenzy - if he comes home and the house smells of bleach he lies low for a while.

My 11 year old grandson is wearing a black suit - a very very white shirt ( did not know there were white and very - very white shirts) with a pencil slim pink tie - with Diesel cologne and hair gel - this is apparently the in gear in Cambridge for prom night

In my days any boy in pink anything would be a laughing stock - pencil slim or not
