Dea dearest..Janey has been called Sweetpea by me for many a moon now and ifin she dont like it ,she can lump it...
And anyway its a lot nicer than some of the things she can come up with and nicer than some of the other things I have called her..(quietly,under my breath)

And my cats are all dead, you insensitive Irene! heh heh. The anniversaries of the last three deaths in 7 weeks last summer have just passed.

But we have a fine crop of ferals this summer, Raul and all his descendants. Most are long-haired medium orange (what you call ginger, I know), and really quite beautiful. The one who has taken to me and may decide to move in is of course the odd one out -- the totally ordinary, very short-haired and very skinny grey-tabby and white spotted one. I might also acquire Fez, a long-haired black so called because his chewed ear looks like he's wearing one, who is also a bit of a fan of head rubs. ... Like No.1 ... so he's just jealous when he turns his nose up at my outside pets ...
