Dea

Dea Report 7 Aug 2010 19:53

Where is everyone ???

If chocolate 'leaves you dead', I could go back to 'perfumes', 'sweeties', 'Banana Splits and furry animals', Bedroom furniture, Electricians, 'Any other business' !!¬!

Just come back to the thread 'cause 'I is all alone' !!

Hi Rene!!

I used to take people to a little mountain village up-mountain from Barcelona where there was a little 'bonboneria' which sold 'orange peel dipped in dark chocolate' - REALLY gorgeous.

I have to say that this one that I bought in my local supermarket is about 90% as good (and I don't say that lightly) and it brings back so many memories!!

Dea Xxx

P.S. - I is not alone now - Rene is here !!

I have been here all day.

I am waiting for my choclate to arrive.

We were sadly notified of a patient death yesterday.

Not unusual as we have a high number of elderly housebound patients.

The amazing thing is she was 105 years old.

Renes

Renes Report 7 Aug 2010 20:55

Oh LK

How sad and what a wonderful achievement for her to reach 105. -

Where is your choc arriving from

Well, Rene - It is a long story so I will try to keep it short so as not to bore anyone!!

I 'retird from my job around a1997 and stood back and thought - what would I like to do ' ??

I had been on several holidays and always woul 'try'to speak the language - from phrase books etc. - just to be polite!!

Most of them were 'Spanish-speaking' , so when I had time, I decided to teach myself Spanish.

I worked on it and after a few months spoke to the tutors in my local college who said I should go for the 'A-level' - they told me what I needed to study and I went for it.

I got a very good grade and then my 'daughter in law' came up with an 'Advert' in her local paper for a 'Tour Manager' taking groups of tourists over there and guiding them around, translating for them and I 'got the job'

I did that job for about 12 years.

It was for a Company who specialised in holidays in 'Real Spain'. - Not the Costas, although there is nothing wrong with that, BUT, I prefer the 'real' Spain !!!

I cannot do it any more because of my health

It has been about 2 years since I was there and I REALLY miss it.

When I was first ill, I let my passport expire but I will renew it very soon.

Anyway - boring to others but I think that will answer your question for now !!

Dea

How clever of you - it is difficult to learn a language when not young - as I know - did you ever come down to Andalucia

You did good getting an A level. -

Muy bien

Went to a funeral last year of someone who was that age. It is an achievement to be sure. Her daughter is late 70's early 80's and used to go and visit her mum in the nursing home regularly. One day, she took an item of ....ahem.....clears throat.....er....underwear .....with her to replace some old ones. Her mother took one look and said...."I'm not wearing those...they're for OLD ladies". lol

Dea

Dea Report 7 Aug 2010 21:17

I suspect you are of an age where you 'do' phones !! ???

Send him a text and tell him to bring you some !!

Hi Sylvia,

You have confused me as it is much too early for my usual morning cuppa!!

You DO make a very good one but I haven't had my sleep yet !

I have to add that I do prefer the cups with the other handles - SO much easier to hold :

Ladykira
Take a tip from an little old lady with a poorly toe - never trust anyone to buy chocolate for you - especially husbands - and if writing it on a list for them - always write chocolate several times on the list preferably in-between items you know they will buy for themselves
