Do not, I repeat do not, attempt to tell a genealogy funny posting to your OH

Michael posted this on www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1212922&px=57

Had one the other week.
After posting some info on a chap (location, dates etc) I received a polite PM thanking me for my efforts but
" I don't think it's him, my Gt uncle was over 6ft tall with red hair"

Totally out of left field !!!!

OH was completely puzzled by it, didn't think it the least bit funny

even came back into the room to repeat what he'd just said!

Tracey - I loved Mr Ben [watched him with my kids]. Never knew what he was going to dress up as next - bit like me really!!

Farmer Barley Mo and Aunt Flo? Every time I see a woman with her hair done up in a 'doughnut' on the top of her head, I think of Aunt Flo.

Sylvs.........I sometimes get the same effect here.....I read out something from here which I think is hilarious and am met with either a blank stare or a polite [pitying] smile!!

There was one the other day from someone looking for this person who 'had blonde curly hair'!! I should have put it on here!

Help me out here.

Took my kids to the theatre in the 80's to see ..... can't remember the name... .
Some children's TV characters ... name was something about Bananas I think.
I can vaguely remember the tune they sang but not the words.

Michael,

I did a google' and I might have found it for you.

Unfortunately I can't get much info as .'Naughty sites' keep coming up and I get warnings not to open the google results.

BUT,.....

Could it perhaps be 'Wonderland Zoo'? Apparently some characters were Bananas the Gorilla, Furface the Lion and Fumbo the elephant.

Ring any bells (as they say quite often on here) ???

Perfectly safe, mother-in-law was named the Troll by She’s, sister’s boyfriend.

MIL would wait up for us to come home, very strict curfew of 10pm weekdays and 11pm weekends.

MIL had a large bay window and she would scurry back and forth in the window bay, arms folded across her chest waiting for us to come home. If we were late she would have the blackest look and the hump…..

Even She would say we must hurry home or the Troll would eat us.

Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,
Think I see my friends coming, Riding a many mile.
Friends, did you get some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my dear friends, To keep me from the Gallows Pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole?

I couldn't get no silver, I couldn't get no gold,
You know that we're too damn poor to keep you from the Gallows Pole.
Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,
I think I see my brother coming, riding a many mile.
Brother, did you get me some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my brother, to keep me from the Gallows Pole?

Brother, I brought you some silver,
I brought a little gold, I brought a little of everything
To keep you from the Gallows Pole.
Yes, I brought you to keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Hangman, hangman, turn your head awhile,
I think I see my sister coming, riding a many mile, mile, mile.
Sister, I implore you, take him by the hand,
Take him to some shady bower, save me from the wrath of this man,
Please take him, save me from the wrath of this man, man.

Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile,
Pray tell me that I'm free to ride,
Ride for many mile, mile, mile.

Oh, yes, you got a fine sister, She warmed my blood from cold,
Brought my blood to boiling hot To keep you from the Gallows Pole,
Your brother brought me silver, Your sister warmed my soul,
But now I laugh and pull so hard And see you swinging on the Gallows Pole

Swingin' on the gallows pole!

Saw Led Zep in Concert at the Kings Hall Aberystwyth in 1972/3.
Cost £1.25p for the ticket...

Went with Bezzie.

Overall, this lengthy set of dates reaffirmed their status in the U.K. It would however prove to be the last opportunity for British audiences to see Led Zeppelin in their homeland at such close quarters. Venues such as the Aberystwyth Kings Hall with its capacity of under 800 would soon be a thing of the past. The stadium era beckoned.[1]
This would be the last full UK tour Led Zeppelin would undertake.

Despite this thread, and it's title in enough large caps. that even I can read it without my special computer glasses, people are just not taking any notice, and think it does not apply to them.
It's getting b****well worse on here, despite all the good intentions.
I despair, I truely do
Keep up the good work.

HEEELP

I was just looking at a line I have not visited for a while on my Family Treemaker.

Got to the head of that line Henry Cook and discovered tht the Davies/Thompson line I was working on has attached itself to him. That is a completely seperate line.
Strange thing is that if I approach throgh the Daviies line they are not showinf Henry Cook as their child.
What can I do?
