Only one nap? I seem to find I need at least two nowadays. In that case I'm more pathetic than you then:-)))

Had a nap during the day ... I was flagging .
Can't burn the proverbial candle like I used to.

Pathetic innit ?

Thought you would have needed an early night Michael after the previous night's shenanigans:-)))

Hi Michael

That must be somewhat unusual!

But how nice to see it (or rather, hear about it).

In our case, my maid of nonour is still with her husband (married 6 months longer than us). OH sis-i-l was the other one .... she was only 19 at the time, not married, and is now a widow. OH's best man is still with his wife (about 4 years longer than us), but his ushers have all moved on to other wives!

It's 43 years for us next month

We had a group photo taken to recreate the wedding top table line up...(minus the parents), best man, bridesmaids, ushers and their respective partners...surprisingly all couples still together after 40 years and no-one missing !!

Must have been a good do then Michael. Shame about the blood test.

Thanks for the book tips Ginny - I'll make a note.

Didn't realise about Chinese and Japanese Sylvia. Did know Muslims consider it impolite to look one in the eye but think some are dropping that now and will smile and reply to a good morning.

Where's Michael? Absent without leave!

evening nudge

There has been quite a shift with people over here.

We have a very large Chinese population, a large percentage born here and of several generations standing. No different to other Canadians

But we have had a major increase in immigration in the last few years .. starting from a couple of years before the Brits gave Hong Kong away.

For a lot of those years, the Chinese people I passed on the street would never acknowledge you ........ and this was cultural. Hong Kong and other Chinese cities are so crowded that a part of surviving is to "insulate" yourself against other people ......... keep your eyes on the ground, don't acknowledge others etc etc

In the last 2 or 3 years, I have noticed that many of these immigrants are going out of their way to acknowledge others ...... even little old men and ladies who speak no English will nod and smile at you as they pass by on their daily (or twice-daily) walk. Some of them even attempt to say Hello or Nice Day.

It's lovely to see!

The same thing happens in Japan, which is also very crowded, and people maintain a little circle around themselves .................... you do not enter that circle unless invited to. It might only be a couple of inches in circumference, but it is "their" space. You cause great offense if you do invade that space.

Well, I'll qualify that. I had been saying I needed help managing my I-cal - need to remind son of every appointment, booking MOT etc. etc. He actually came in and gave me instructions SLOWLY so I could understand:-))
Now when I come on computer calendar will automatically come up. Will stop me overlooking any.
