I think this is where the other trees have taken George as the father from. But on this George is a labourer and Priscilla is a minister so I don't think it is the correct couple.
George Halford Age: Full Age Estimated birth year: abt 1862 Spouse Name: Priscilla Alcome Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 10 Nov 1862 Parish: St John the Baptist County: Middlesex Borough: Hillingdon Father Name: George Halford Spouse Father Name: Richard Alcome
Although having said that the two witnesses were Andrew and Emma Halford and this looks very much like them
Andrew Holford [Andrew Halford] Age: 32 Estimated birth year: abt 1839 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Castle Donnington, Leicestershire, England Civil parish: New Brentford County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Registration district: Brentford Sub-registration district: Brentford ED, institution, or vessel: 21 Household schedule number: 231 Household Members: Name Age Andrew Holford 32 Emma Holford 30 Elizth Holford 2 Henry Holford 1 year, 4 months William Lever 19 Thomas Pope 21 Charles Lewis 22 Alfred Higgs 16 Henry Humphreys 19

Hmm, yeah that's very interesting. I guess that could be where people have found George the father from. But on this record, George and Priscilla were born in the 1860s instead of 1841 when my Greatx3 grandfather was born.
But, yep, that could very well be where the confusion has stemmed from!
Thank you, Tansy

Mmm.. this is interesting. The Andrew Halford who married Emma gives his father as Thomas. So I wonder if they were cousins.
Andrew Halford Age: Full Age Estimated birth year: abt 1861 Spouse Name: Emma Tindall Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 20 May 1861 Parish: St Mary, Paddington Green County: Middlesex Borough: Westminster Father Name: Thomas Halford Spouse Father Name: William Tindall
Witnesses were John Halford and Jane
Their marriage. It looks as though Jane was Emmas sister. Nothing like keeping it in the family!
John Halford Age: Full Age Estimated birth year: abt 1853 Spouse Name: Jane Tindall Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 25 Dec 1853 Parish: St John the Evangelist, Paddington County: Middlesex Borough: Westminster Father Name: Thomas Halford Spouse Father Name: William Tindall
Also when all three of them married they were Labourers. It seems to be later that they became boatmen.
Looking at the 1911 Andrew and Emma had 15 children 9 of which died. How sad is that?
I'm going to post this but I don't know if it is relevant or not.
Thomas Allford>>>>>>>>>>>Boatman Age: 46 Estimated birth year: abt 1815 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Brigit Gender: Male Where born: Castle Donnington, Leicestershire, England Civil parish: Brampton Ecclesiastical parish: St Thomas County/Island: Derbyshire Country: England Registration district: Chesterfield Sub-registration district: Chesterfield ED, institution, or vessel: 28 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 65 Household Members: Name Age Thomas Allford 46 Brigit Allford 43 Mary Allford 16 John Allford 12 George Allford 2
He seems to be part of a big family, if this is him, who were all baptised at Lockington which lays next door to Castle Donington.
THOMAS HALFORD Pedigree Male Event(s): Birth: Christening: 24 MAR 1815 Lockington, Leicester, England Death: Burial: Parents: Father: THOMAS HALFORD Family Mother: SUSANNAH

Have you got birth certificates (for parents, and mother's maiden name, etc) and marriage certificates (for ages, occupations, and fathers' names, etc) in an unbroken link back to the George that you are looking for? Thanks

Thank you very much for all the posts.
The information on Thomas is very interesting... It certainly seems to fit, except that if he and Ann did get married in 1822... then that would make them far too young :S
It's all very confusing!
Unfoortunately I don't have any birth certificates. However, I think I have all the solid information on George and Priscilla as I have spoken to people who do have certificates and we have been ale to confirm our findings. It's really the information on his father and mother that I need- Thomas Hallford and Ann Hargraves. I found their marriage record but that is all I have...
Many thanks and Best wishes, Tansy
