Have hit a brick wall with my search for my g.g.g. Grandfather William ADAMS. He was born in Ireland probably around 1800 and was a soldier possibly in the Royal Artillery, he had a son William whose details are as follows:-

Name : Henry William ADAMS (sometimes he used Henry, other times William)
Born : abt. 1831 Ireland
Married : 18th. February 1853 in "The Mariner's Church", St. Pauls Shadwell, London (occupation shown as MARINER)
Wife : Ann Jane McKEE, born abt. 1828, Woolwich, Kent, UK
Children : Alexander (Waterman), George (Waterman), Charles Joseph (Waterman), William Joseph, Rueben (Waterman), Jane.

Residence 1860 onwards : Woolwich, Kent
Occupation 1861 : Engine Driver Steamboats
Occupation 1871 Census onwards : Engine Driver

Due to where he was living, 5 Globe Lane and then Roff's Wharf at the time of the Princess Alice Distaster 1878, it is highly probable that he worked for one or all of companies : Woolwich Steam Packet Co., Waterman's Steam Packet Co., London Steamboat Company.

Do these details ring any bells for anyone please.
regards
