I just wish he hadn't kept changing his year of birth, Going by his age on his marriage to Emily it would have been c1855/1856.

I have listed James with his wife Emily and children to in order to assist any one who is willing to try and help.

My problem is he gives year of birth as 6 years earlier in the 1891 census than he does in the 1901 & 1911 so I'm not certain what year he was born.

I have just received his marriage certificate, he married Emily Ingle on 7/7/1884 in Walsall. His father was named as Daniel Garratt, a waggoner. Unfortunately witnesses do not help as neither are named Garratt. James gave his age as 28 and he was a widower.

My problem is I can't seem to find James before his marriage to Emily.

In the 1881 census there is a James Garratt c1847 at Coventry married to a Lucy but I can't find a death for Lucy so will have to rule this one out, unless you wonderful helpers can find her death for me. I have not been able to find James in his early years with his parents.

The only birth in Coventry for a James Garratt I can find is in Dec q 1848 so I have sent for that certificate.

Could someone please help me.
