Indeed, i have a whole half of my tree all Scottish, and i have a few strays.... and alot of headaches!

Your options are Emmigration, Military or Death.

Emmigration might be a case of waiting til the lists are more complete.

Military would be a case of going through the lists and seeing if you can find them (parent details would be on the next of kin page on the docs)

Death.... well thats a harder one, you might have to wait until someone else has some of the same family members and they know something more than you do.

No they are not on any of their siblings marriage certs or parents death certs, they surely don 't make it easy .

Having had a good look around, including the 1911 Irish census (incase they went back to where their father came from) and i couldn't find them!

Have you considered they may have emigrated? or that either one or both have joined the military?

I cannot see anyting on the emmigration records, however these are not fully transcribed, so it might be a case of sitting and waiting.

Hello Tracey. :) I sent that information directly to springflower since I wasn't sure she would see it here, and she is interested in the Mr Kuhl so ... I said she had better get the marriage certificate, lol. I think this is the first time I have seen a case where somebody needed a certificate to know the person's sex!

I am hoping you might be able to find these 2 brothers , they are,
Henry Moore d.o.b. 3.6.1859 in Glasgow , last on the 1881 scottish census living with his parents, occupation Hammerman.
Alexander Moore d.o.b. 26.4.1880 in Glasgow , last on the 1891 scottish census aged 11.
Their parents are Henry and Margaret nee Stewart.
I have not been able to find a marriage or death for them anywhere in Scotland, so any help from you would be appreciated.

I didn't do anything but the basic research on this person specifically because the certs will hold more details than we can find.

I'm not a fan of chasing my own tail trying to find data that can easily be found by buying a cert.

Once Springtime comes back with more details we can help her further, as a footnote tho there are both male and female Linley births

Linley C Kuhl was a girl. She was born Linley C Thomas and married a Mr Kuhl late in life.

Births Sep 1915
Thomas Linley C mmn John Narberth 11a 2524

That will be another very good reason to get certificates, to find out what sex the person was!


editing . . . I thought maybe that was mistaken because there are births with those surnames in the 1960s and 1970s but another Thomas married a Kuhl just a little earlier.

Yeah the Alfred death is the one born 1864, the son of Alfred J and Mary A Chappell.

I've been checking my notes on previous enquiries. I have an Alfred White death from previous enquiry as:

7221/1894 ALFRED J SYLVANUS MARY A - LISMORE (a district of NSW - as is Yarra) - so presumably the son of Sylvanus and Mary Ann Steeden born after they arrived in Australia.

If the 1928 Alfred death is the Alfred James who emigrated he would have been 92!

Alternatively it could be Alfred William the son of Alfred James and Mary Ann Chappell born in 1864.

Why oh why cannot they name their children other than after themselves and their relatives. Gets so confusing! Needs a sharper brain than mine to sort it all out.

Edit: Having looked at it all again guess it must be Alfred William's death in 1928.

Hey Jean,

Have you seen a public tree by the name of 'Barry Family Tree' on A*try?

They appear to have Alfred James White & wife Mary Ann they also appear not to know Mary Ann's surname and only have Alfred William White as the only child listed (no parents for Alfred senior either)

They have Alfred married to Sophia Elizabeth Olley 1874-1924, (no date for the marriage). They have a death for Alfred as 13 Jul 1928 Lismore, NSW.

Only 1 child listed of the marriage, Keith Olley White 1907 - 1971.
