Chris,
There is no births for a John Tassie in Scotland in 1795 but between the years 1785 -1905 there is ...
John Tassie 19 June 1788 Father - John Tassie Mother - Margaret Sharp GLASGOW
John Tassie 13 January 1791 Father - Robert Tassie Mother - Agnes Gault ABBEY RENFREW
John Tassie 14/10/1793 Father - William Tassie Mother - Janet Smith Glasgow
John Tassie 27/04/1794 Father - James Tassie Mother - Margaret Slater Cathcart – Lanark
John Tassie 27/11/1796 Father - John Tassie Mother - Maren Greenshields Douglas - Lanark
John Tassie 08/10/1797 Father - Robert Tassie Mother - Elizabeth Cochran Abbey - Renfrew
John Tassie 20/02/1799 Father - Alexander Tassie Mother - Ann Lang Eastwood - Lanark
You may be able to fit it in with children's names? or even grandchildrens names - they usually use the same names over and over.
I've also had a look for a marriage for a John Tassie between 1810 - 1833 .. there is 2 that comes up ..
John Tassie Jean Wallace 30 May 1812 EASTWOOD - LANARK
John Tassie Magdalen Owen 30 July 1814 FORRES - MORAY
If you find out any more information i'll give it a shot but unfortunately because you don't have much to go on the info i've given you is pretty much all I can just now.
Have you got his death? His wife's name may be on that?
I had a check for deaths for both of the woman ..
Magdalen - there is no deaths in Scotland for a Magdalen Tassie between 1814 and 1833 or a Magdalen Owen.
There is a death for a Janet Tassie but it says she is 73 years old - which doesnt quite add up with him .
Hope this helps - if even just slightly.

Elaine,
There is a death for a John Keane in Greenock in 1972 aged 82 - but because the death is too recent it would need to be looked up at Register House in Edinburgh.
I can't seem to find a death for a Bridget - but once you see John's death you'll be able to see if she died before or after him..
Sorry

Hi Emma,
Wondering if you would please have any time to assist me.
I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to locate the death of a Thomas Smith Marshall, who was born 9 January 1883 in Montrose, Angus to William Marshall and Helen Hutcheon.
I have traced him on both the 1891 and 1901 census returns where he was residing with his parents at 5 Commerce Street, Montrose and employed as a Blacksmiths Apprentice.
He seems to have dissappeared after that and I've not been able to trace him since!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Rachelle

Hi Emma,
If i may take up your kind offer is it possible you may be able to find two births for me.
James Munro abt 1853 Helen Munro abt 1855 (various spellings of christian name) Their parents were Robert Munro and Bathia Murray they were married on the 26 may 1853 in Old Machar Aberdeen, a witness was William Munro.
Two of their children were born in Aberdeen Isabella 1856 and Robert 1858 which i have certificates for.
If you do find the births could i pm you my email please for the certs. Any help would be greatly appreciated ,thank you.
Regards and best wishes. Maurice.

Hi Emma, Thank you for the offer. I'm not familiar with Scotlands People but you will know if this is a wild goose chase or not. I have a Robert Ingram in Co Antrim Ireland B-circa 1816. Any records that may have told me more have been destroyed but I thought he just may have been born in Scotland, perhaps Ayrshire. Following the scottish naming pattern his father would have been John. Thanks for hearing this out...Heather

Rachelle,
I've had a look for a death off a Thomas Marshall but because the name is so popular there are lots of them - none around the same sort of area you said he was born tho - I've also had a quick check on ancestry and nobody on there seems to have him either.
Sorry I couldn't be much help
