I do remember the witnesses were Kathleens brothers as her dad died in WW1, bit desperate my family!

And Kathleen's parents weren't married? Her mother was Carney, on her birth record. No Rolfe-Carney marriage ...


What's really needed from the mrge cert is Thomas's age, and father's name. Not a hope in hades of finding him otherwise, and maybe even then.

I HAVE spent time going through the 1911 for David Jones( Boilerman).
The only possibles on it seem to be in Lancashire and there are 3 of them.
Births in the right time frame for Thomas David Jones are MANY and all over the shop.

So no joy from me then.

But Hilda M Rolfe could be a possible contender.

The only way is to start sending for Birth certs I think.

One at a time until you hopefully hit the jackpot.

I bought 7 death certs to find my grans "natural" father in the end,but it paid off as I DID find out who he was and that he died when she was 5.

The Jones side will be too difficult ,take it from me,I do a lot of Welsh research as its where I live and my sons father is Welsh.
It may have been possible if you had anyone to ask or Thomas David had been born early enough to be on 1911.

But to try to find him you would need to send for every likely birth for him and I think that is about 15 !
And then you may not be sure you have a correct one for him.

Send for Hildas birth cert first,come back here and let us know right or wrong and either way we can have another look at things.
At least there are only a few possible girls that can be the correct one.
And if you exhaust them without finding her there are a couple of possible male births...:)
