That might be the Ralph on P2.
Whittle does seem to a place where either John could have been from.

John 1813 lived at Dalton House in Whittle the house is still there.
He was working there as a Doctor before moving to Manchester.
He had a son called Peter Ralph Jackson Heatley.
His son Henry Heys Heatley was born in Whittle
His eldest son was John Heys Heatley.

It makes me think Ralph, John and Henry Heatley's must have a connection to my two John's.

John 1813 must have siblings as must John @1870

This is all I have on John @1870
Marriage: 25 May 1809 St Leonard, Walton le Dale, Lancashire, England
John Heatley - Preston Corn Dealer
Mary Heys -
Register: Marriages 1807 - 1809, Page 5, Entry 109
Witnesses
Thomas Gregson, JNo Talbot
Henry Smith Wheelwright, Elizabeth Craven

Married in Walton-Le-Dale but a Preston Corn Dealer but where was he born?

Leyland and Salmesbury look likely don't they.

Thanks for your help Ann

lancashireAnn Report 18 Apr 2010 18:50

Woodplumpton is actually on the NW side of Preston (only a few miles from me) and Leyland Whittle & Walton S to SE Preston, Salmesbury E of Preston.

So could check Leyland & Salmesbury

possibly not going until Friday as still waiting for certs I ordered

Hi Ann

The Wills I looked at and other documents helped me exclude people.

This will
Contents:
Name: Heatley, John
Address: Woodplumpton, St. Michaels, Amounderness, Lancashire
Occupation: Weaver
Contents: will

I thought be John 1870 but this John's wife was Ann not Mary.

I checked Walton-Le-Dale and Whittle-le-Woods.

My head was hurting so I didn't check Samlesbury.
I think the answer to John 1813 and John 1870 birth is in that building somewhere.
Also Mary Heys John 1870 wife, where and when was she born?

I need to go again and search the records.
It would help if you were prepared to look Ann.
I have very little information on them other than they were born in Preston area.

is this perhaps the Ralph you mention in your 1st post on P2.

Burial: 20 Feb 1792 St Andrew, Leyland, Lancashire, England

did you find a will for this one?

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 18 Apr 2010 18:10

Hi Simon

Did reading the actual wills not give any clues?

Which churches did you check - the Cof E or RC - Salmesbury was a noted RC area

I can have a look at any other you think of next time I go if it would help

Simon

Simon Report 16 Apr 2010 22:40

I went to Lancashire Record Office today to search for John 1813 and John 1780 birth record and any Heatley Wills that would help me.

I spent a good few hours their sifting through microfiche, will indexes etc.

I didn't find a birth for either John, I checked quite a few churches and parishes of where I thought they might have been baptised.

I found a Will for a John Heatley who could have been John 1780 but his wife was Ann not Mary.

I found a few other wills which might be a family member but no real proof.

All in all a frustrating day, especially as I has a 1.5 hour drive to get there.

Simon

Simon Report 3 Apr 2010 17:02

I guess no one else can find John Heatley 1813 siblings either.

How odd?

If his marriage record exists why not is birth record.

Why none of his siblings

All a little frustrating especially as I can find plenty of suspect Heatley's back to 1620 I believe must be John Heatley's ancestors I just can't 100% link them.

Simon

Simon Report 2 Apr 2010 10:24

I now think John Heatley father was John Heatley 1784 and his grandfather was James Heatley born 1756.
All Samlesbury

I still don't have an siblings of John 1813 or John 1784.

I would like some more information to be 100% sure.

If I am correct I can link John Heatley 1813 to Hugh Heatley 1620.

Thanks in advance if anyone can find the two John's siblings.

I am going to go to Preston next Saturday to try and find any other historical documents relating to the Samlesbury Heatleys

Chris

I will do as you requested.
I seem to be getting nowhere using information on the internet.

Hence why I suggested looking for wills in my post on 27 March...

'Executors and beneficiaries may well give you clues and you may be able to work backwards/forwards/sideways'

So you may find siblings and their offspring that way.

Sorry they did marry in Chorley
Which census mentions Middlesex?
Sons were born in Middlesex not marriage.

I can't seem to find John 1813 siblings/

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 27 Mar 2010 21:22

"They were married in Middlesex as John was training to be a Surgeon."

but the marriage you posted took place in Chorley??

what am I missing here please

Simon

Simon Report 27 Mar 2010 18:49

They were married in Middlesex as John was training to be a Surgeon.

The first two children were born there.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 27 Mar 2010 18:06

just a bit puzzled in that the census says born Lancs but marriage 'of Middlesex'

Do you have proof of her name from a child's birth cert or were they all born pre registration

Chris in Sussex

Chris in Sussex Report 27 Mar 2010 17:15

It would probably be worth trying to find wills/death taxation records..

Given John and William's occupations they would more than likely have something to leave....Unlike my lot :-)

Executors and beneficiaries may well give you clues and you may be able to work backwards/forwards/sideways and find a connection that way.

Good luck
Chris
