OK, I'll have the drink myself! Don't be so modest.
I must start trying this wildcard searching.

Her father Matthias (pick your spelling!) appears to have died in 1890. Brother with the same name dies in 1930

Off to the pub for my drink!

Looked a bit more in detail at the info from Pete. Father was a Tailor, was there a clothing industry in Soho at that time I wonder. Also see they lived in Dean Street. Funny to think that is where me and my better half go to look for our vintage records. Talk about walking in our ancestors footsteps. Spooky.

Sorry Ann, dont quite get what the laughing is for.
Yes records, beautiful shiny black orbs that give a finer, crisper, and more rounded sound than your actual cd disc.
I could bore for Britain on the advantages of records versus cd, but each to their own.
Seriously though, the internet is now the place for records, Dean Street had its day about 10 years ago. But the sentiment is still there, walking in our ancestors footsteps.

Hello Ann
Thanks for the info on the Teschelert family, I think you can see that Pete gave me a lot of info too. Brilliant. what started out as a vague query has yeilded so much.

AnnCardiff Report 14 Mar 2010 21:23

I had to post what I did just so I could be "in on the act"!!!!

I still have a stack of black records - not so shiny now though - a nice collection from the fifties!!

This marriage?

Name: Eveline Elizabeth Teschelert
Age: 20
Estimated birth year: abt 1873
Spouse Name: Joseph Edward Dolby
Spouse Age: 22
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 30 Jul 1893
Parish: St John the Evangelist, Charlotte Street
County: Middlesex
Borough: Camden
Father Name: Matthews Teschelert
Spouse Father Name: Joseph Edward Dolby

Her father is Matthias on the original, tailor, deceased.
Witnesses were Joseph Edward Dolby (another one, I guess) and Lillian Teschelert.

MotownGal Report 14 Mar 2010 22:11

Thanks Margaret
Yes this is the same marriage. Pete said that Evelinas father died in 1890c. The Joseph who is the witness is his father, and Lillie is Evelinas sister. So this ties in very neatly. Thank you.
One booboo in the info though, Camden is a new borough from about 1960. It was St Pancras up until that time.

See Ann, the old black magic of records works.
We have a stack from the 60's. Tamla Motown, hence the handle for the Community Board. Nothing better than blasting out the likes of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Four Tops et all.
Thrown my mini skirt away years ago though. Havent got the skinny pins no more.

AnnCardiff Report 14 Mar 2010 22:18

I have the skinny pins still - it's just the rest that's gone to seed and headed South

The true test - do you remember Crimplene??!
Jan

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 15 Mar 2010 17:31

Ah yes Crimpline. Flexible carboard with the texture of tripe. I had a mini dress, two tone, cream and blue. Does anyone remember op-art, black and white. White cut out boots and shiny macs. Black eyeliner and eyelure false eyelashes. Desert Flower body lotion. Sea Jade perfume. Sea Witch hair colourant. Black nail polish. Lace tights. Kaftans and bells. Espandrilles. Loon pants. Angel face powder. Mary Quant neutral lipstick. Geometric hair cuts. Funfur coats. Jackie and Petticoat and Honey. Radio London and Radio Caroline.
Or was that just me.
Happy days.

Pete
