I have since found out that Margaret Mary's mother wasn't married.
The original census I found was them. I have got Margaret's (senior) birth details 1887 Matinstown Limerick. So now have her father and mother.
John Torpey and Margaret McCarthy. I need to work on their marrage now.
ERIN Margaret Mary was born in Emlygrennan Limerick. I think I might be getting the hang of the places a bit now. Thanks for all the help if you want to offer more that would be brilliant Regards Lesley

Thank you Erin Now I have the exact details of thier marriage I will look and see if I can find them and pay for the details. I did wonder if she could have married a Torpey. As I said before when I found who I thought they were and it said that both Margaret and Catherine were dress makers I was sure it was them, As the only thing I knew about Margaret Mary's mother was that she was a dressmaker and had a sister called Kate. Off to work now will see what I can find when I get home. Thanks for your help you have been great!

Lesley...Her MC to Rbt.would be better value.... There were only a few Torpey families in the area and my guess is they were all related.... It may be that Margaret Torpey married a "Torpey" after 1911.or the details on the Census should have read Daughter in law...all speculation at the moment...
I agree it would be highly unlikely for "Margaret Mary's" mother to have been unmarried....

Yes Thank you Dea looks like I have some good ones on my side now.
Flick I did think of that. That she might not have married. But would you really get away with that in a small town/village in those days ???
Thank you Erin I am going to send those details to a cousin. (On the other side of the family) But she might make a better guess than me. I will look at them myself also to see if anything stands out.
The problem is I know so very little about this side. I think I am going to have to pay for her birth certificate to get her dads name. At 5 euro a time plus £1.25 money transfer. I will go broke before I finish this lol You have been a great help guys x

The mother COULD be the one you've found in 1911 - she didn't have to be married to produce a child.
Both Margaret and her sister are Dressmakers in 1911

Thank you Erin
All I know is Emly I am finding this all very confusing. Especially the areas.
I made a mistake in my last message the mother wasn't Torpey obviously
But she was Margaret and she did have a sister Kate (catherine) They were both dress makers.
I need to not do these searches after a hard days work lol I always get my dates and names mixed up.
I have made huge progress with the Duhig side as I have a wonderful cousin to help. The keeper of all the family history! But I am getting nowhere with Margaret Mary who is my grandmother. Thanks again for the help Lesley

Well I feel a bit of a fool now. I have found her on the 1911 census. But in fairness to myself I didnt own her first name until after I posted this. So now I have a mother for Margaret Mary(also Margaret) a sister Catherine and two brothers John and Michael. Then another two siblings. No father unfortunately. He had obviously died before this.
Thank you all for your help and advice.
If anyone is searching the Torpey's please let me know if any of this sounds familiar Lesley

Thank you for your replies Yes she is the Margaret Mary died in Westminster. She married Robert Duhig about 1930 in Limerick. I have been searching in various site to find thier marrage details. But I can't find a Torpey who was married at the same time as a Duhig. It's turning out to be rather expensive, as I make one bad choice after another. I have no idea of her fathers name. But I have found out that her mother was also a Margaret Torpey who had a sister Kate. And that's as much as I know. Once again thanks Lesley
