Thanks for the tip!
I am trying to reunite the medals with the family, would you suggest anything else? Maybe the daughter?

Welcome to the boards, Danny.

You may not have noticed that Lynnedee's last post was dated 2010. She's unlikely to be looking for replies here now.

Your best bet is to send her a message as described by Nyx above, but bear in mind that she may now be using a different email address, or for any one of many reasons she may not receive, read, or reply to your message.

Good luck!

Danny, please remove your email, GR suggests you don't post them on the open board.

You can message Lynnedee by clicking on her name, if she has kept her email address up to date with GR then she will receive notification of the message and be able to reply.

My late grandfather collected coins, stamps and war medals.

I have come across a set of 6 medals for Percy Wicks #178367.
The medals include the china war medal and a medal for long service and good conduct.

Please get in touch with me for more information.
Thanks

Thanks once again, you are clearing up some un answered questions for me, Philip married Sadie had a son Brian ;sometime after the couple divorced. . Sadie may have been pregnant with Brian when she and Philip married. The second wife of Philip may have come from the Hampshire area, possibly near Petersfield, this marriage also produced a son, am guessing around 1940's to 1950.s for both events. Cant offer any thing clearer than this - sorry.

Sorry , I may have read your posting wrong. Did you mean he married Maria Turner after Matilda died?

Mary Elizabeth Craddock Wicks looks to be Percy's daughter as she was only 15 weeks old on the 1911 census.

Possible first marriage for Percy??

Looking at the deaths it may have been Bessie that he married. A check of the 1911 census finds Jane Louisa living with Edward James Greiggs so it must have been Bessie.

Hi guys, thanks for information on Percy and Philip Wicks. You are right about Percy not being at home in 1911 - he was on board ship on his second commission to China! Have I read it correctly that his daughter Betty would have been his step-daughter (Mary Elizabeth Craddock)? Percy was a widower when he remarried ( to Marie Turner) When did his first wife die? Philip, his son, also married twice but who was his second wife and when? Apologies for duplicate thread - unintensional , my computer has a mind of its own sometimes !

If you buy Percy and Matild's marriage certificate, it will give you Percy's father's name and occupation. It may then be possible to find Percy on earlier census records.
