Sandra...Have found an Ann Sheddan aged 20 years. S. Servant b.Renf. on the 1841 Census Greenock Address just says Fingart...wonder if she is "Ann"..
only other 2 Sheddans listed are John aged 27 and Mary aged 23 living Bogle Street Greenock...(this is from the Free Cen.and doesnt cover all the areas)
Found a death listed of a Mrs Sheddan (1832) of Hamilton Street she had taken the Cholera...

Erin,
So, that Jeannie is actually Jane? I thought it was a Jean McLeod. Why don't they just stick to the names they were given?

I did laugh yesterday,it was brilliant.

Eringobragh1916 Report 3 Feb 2010 11:04

But just think of all the Laughs they have given us along the way...!!!

If you look at the details for Anne from her MC one of the Witnesses' was a Jane McLeod...her younger sister was called Jane....

Eringobragh1916 Report 3 Feb 2010 10:53

Sandra....
I have looked at the dates and the Cenus..Anne was born according to the IGI abt 1855..this corresponds with the info from the 1861 Census showing Aulay (snr) Accountant...which in turn corresponds with details from her MC to Mr.Bremner..she may have just knocked a few years off her age...if you can locate her 1891 Census (probably in the Gorbals) that may help clarify her details...

Do you think Ann Sheddan is the same person as Ann Johnstone Sheddan? Why is the middle name included in some and not others?

Sandra

Sandra Report 3 Feb 2010 10:43

I've got DOBs for a couple of the McLeods from Familysearch but they don't tally with the results on here?

Sandra

On page 5 it has Annie McLeods marriage to John Bremner in 1892 and says she was 32, that means she was born c1860, I found her birth on Familysearch and it says 30-01-1855.
Is there 2 lots of McLeods here?

Sandra

Sandra Report 3 Feb 2010 10:28

Helen,
I do have a baby McAulay buried in with my dads adoptive parents -

Peterina Henderson Thomson McGregor McAulay (as spelled on D C) died 6/10/32 at Greenock aged 1 month.
Father Archibald McAulay Shipyard Labourer.
Mother Mary Munro Thomson Morrison widow of Thomas Jenkins, Shipyard Labourer,

I haven't found a link to why she's buried with my family.
