Hi, Would you be able to find a marriage for Richard Underwood (born 1892) to Florence Peek (born 1905) in NSW (she was from Armidale, he was from UK) probably sometime between 1924 and 1939? Thank you, Jo :-)

Hi Cherilyn Hoping you can help me. Trying to track down her actual brother and father, I seemed to have got myself confused if on the right track. re: Mary HEHIR b approx 1830 ? Limerick Ireland daughter of Timothy O'Hehir and Catherine Hartigan Limerick Ireland married to George James Biddle Toodyay West Aust 1855, name on registration is Mary WEIR. family has her arriving Australia on the SABRINA 1850. She married George James Biddle and had 7 children her names is listed variously as Heir, Heheir,Hear. Following George death 1879 Mary remarried 1898 to Cornelius Beard who died 1900. Mary died in Northam in 1921. Found a newspaper article, below in which I thought was referring to Mary BEARD and her daughter Mrs Job BEARD, thus making Timothy O'Hehir brother to Mary Hehir. Also have a death for another Timothy O'Hehir who died at 77 years of age in 1920 in Perth WA. The West Australian (Perth, WA : 1879-1954) Monday 15 March 1909 The funeral of the late Mr. Timothy O'Hehir (late contractor, of Victoria and of this city) took place yesterday after noon and was largely attended. The cortege moved from, his late residence, 14 Irwin-street, Perth, headed by a very large number of members of St. Patrick's Branch 142 H.A.C.B. Society in full regalia, and proceeded per road to George-street, where his brother members took the tram for Karrakatta and joined the procession at the cemetery gates, thence to the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where the remains were interred, the Rev. Father Gallagher officiating at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs. P. O'Connor, "P.B.P., H. McCarthy, P.B.F., B. Shine (secretary), F. Crogan, A.S., J. O'Callaghan, and M. Horrigan, all members of the H.A.C.B. Society. The chief mourners were Mrs. J. A. O'Hehir (widow), Mr. Frank O'Hehir (son), Mrs. Mary Beard (sister), Messrs. J. Beard, T. Quigley, and J. Grant (nephews), Mrs. J. Beard (niece), Mrs. C. Quigley (sister-in-law), and Mr. and Mrs. W. Clifton. Many letters and telegrams of sympathy were received. The funeral arrangements were carried-out by Messrs. Bowra
Hoping you have some inkling how to proceed as not sure if referring to uncle or nephews that is a general term covering generations or the correct relationship. Looking for connections in Ballarat got confused due to the large number of O'Hehir. Not having much luck finding a passenger list for the SABRINA, unsure where to look. Also not much success finding how connected to Quigley.
Thank you Michelle

Hi Cherilyn
Could you help me out again please?
I am looking for a date and place of birth for William John Reynolds. He died in 1954 at the age of 82 in Wallsend NSW, so his DOB must be about 1872. He married Adelaide Hope in Wallsend in 1895. She was born in Lambton NSW in 1875, daughter of John and Ann, and died in Wallsend in 1966 aged 91.
Many thanks Sonya

I believe this is their arrival in Victoria, from Liverpool. Too many names match for it to be coincidence, and they had a child in Victoria the following year. Possibly error for him marked as child not adult.

Hi Anne
What an interesting family! Here are their deaths:
Surname: MATHISON Given Names: Georgina Event: D Father: Mackay Robt Mother: Helen JEFFREY Age: 68 Death Place: STANLEY Year: 1883 Reg Number: 6750
Surname: MATHISON Given Names: Gordon Clunes Event: D Father: Jno Mother: Margaret MUNRO Age: 89 Death Place: C MAINE Year: 1884 Reg Number: 11722
So he was about 20 years older than Georgina. Note their surname is consistently spelt MATHISON, not MATHESON, at least in bdms.
More to follow...

Hello Cherilyn My husband's gggrandparents came to Victoria in about 1851 from Sutherland Scotland and settled up near Stanley.Their names are Georgina nee Mackay and Gordon Clunes Matheson. I think Gordon died in approx 1881 and Georgina was about the same time. I hope to go to the Stanley cemetery and find their graves but I don't think there are any headstones so I will have to find a map of the cemetery. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Anne

hi Kim
I did reply on page 25 but it keeps coming up with an error for some reason...
sorry i can't help with your dad, the surname is just not unusual enough and there are too many possibles...
you can only try making some phone calls from White Pages online for J Hill in Tasmania (sorry I think I said Davies last time by mistake), but there are about 40 J Hills...
the other thing to try is contacting the Salvation Army Family Tracing Service in Tasmania
Ph (03) 6228 8400 PO Box 50 NEW TOWN TAS 7008
i don't know what else to suggest sorry
good luck, I hope you find him
Cheers Cherilyn
