It does seem rather odd that if you pay for Ancestry the privacy date no longer applies as it does on the QLD website. Edit to say I will ask for a look up on Ancestry .Au for the marriage and get back to you if I may

I suspect it is the same cut-off dates. By hiding info it is their way of getting you to pay up on the off-chance. There is no match for Wm Gordon COLE marriage in Qld. Try it yourself:
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1780
EDIT: Just found burial at Nambour for Wm Gordon Cole in 1960, born c1921. See other thread.

James Barraclough b.1872 Leeds & Charlotte Barraclough b.1872 Leeds. I have now found Ethel on the 1911 Census still in Leeds & still single. Dad always said he had a sister he had never seen as she emigrated before he was born. He was born on 7th December 1912 if this is right Ethel must have emigrated 1911 or 1912. I'm now wondering if she married in Australia. Thanks for trying with this - I would love to find out what happened to her. Best wishes, Loma.

Thinking your dad was still a baby so wouldn't remember her and the family memory might be a bit amiss in saying she went before he was born.
Try looking at www.findmypast.co.uk/migration for each of these and see how you go. Do put a couple of years each side of her birth year and put allow alternatives for first name (which will then allow for initials etc).
Good luck, sorry I can't find her.

I have a feeling that the death of William in 1960 at Nambour is the correct one . Little things trigger memories.Whilst doing my own tree yesterday I saw the name Bailey and that is the surname of the 2 brothers who came from Ireland in the family story.I had forgotten until I saw that name .
I am waiting for a reply from my friends.

Hi Cherilyn,
This is a bit of a long shot really. I am looking for a Robert Bennett b Bath , Somerset in 1839 I cannot find him again in the UK census records after 1861. His parents were James & Mary Ann. I am thinking that he may have gone out to Australia as his uncle went out there and married in Wilberforce in 1836. Could you see if you can find him please?
Thank you in anticipation Liz

Hi Liz, whoa this is a bit tricky...can't see him marrying in Vic (as b. Bath or Somerset) nor a death in NSW or Vic with matching parents names. Not that that means he sin't there...somewhere.
Shame he didn't have a more unusual name really :-)
Sorry :-(

Hi Cherilyn, I wonder if you could help me please? James Searle was convicted at the Sussex Quarter Session, of stealing 4 bushels of wheat and was sentenced to 7 years transportation for the crime. He left England aboard the 'Sarah' on 22.8.1829 and arrived in NSW on 7.12.1829. He left behind his wife, Sarah and 5 very small children. I believe that he married again twice in Australia but only have names & dates. Would you be able to shed anymore light on these marriages please? Where they took place etc. Also, did James have anymore children in Australia? (I believe James died in 1865 in Adelaide) I hope that I'm not asking too much? The marriage notes I have are - 16.1.1840 married Rebecca Cogdon 17.9.1841 married Julia Nowlan. I wonder if Rebecca died? Thank you so much for any help at all that you are able to give. Regards, Sue

I see your kind offer please could look for anything on Charles Shearstone?
Charles Shearston/e (l variations in spelling) was born 1837 East Coker, I have him on census 1841, 1851, 1861, he married 15 may 1865 age 26 B Labourer, of Bermondsey to Elizabeth Bell 27, S ,Bermondsey Then he turns up in the 1901 census with his niece a widower age 62 living on own means, by 1911 he has remarried with 3 children a retired miner, I was told that is niece son Frederick Mundell went tin mining in Australia I found Fred in, Unassisted Inward Passenger Lists to Victoria 24 OCT 1894 AUSTRAL B ,so maybe he went out to join his uncle ? Fred then joined up, from" Australian Imperial Force Nominal Roll" Frederick Ernest Mundell, Private age 37,a miner Single, Lower Romeo, Via Cooktown, Queen Town , So is this where Charles went? Is there a death of his wife Elizabeth?
I found there are two Charles Sheatstone on a ships PROV Index, Charles 50 NOV 1888 ORMUZ B 505 009. Chas 41 OCT 1879 CUZCO ,B 374 005, the ages are right I did ask for a lookup on Ships passenger list for him nothing was found, Thank you, Ann E

Hi Cathleen
I can't see him in the mining accidents index or inquests. But here is his death reg:
Surname: FRAWLEY Given Names: Richard Event: D Father: Patrick Mother: Susan Age: 30 Birth Place: CLAR Year: 1864 Reg Number: 2808
This could be a brother's death?
Surname: FRAWLEY Given Names: Michael Event: D Father: Patrick Mother: Susan CODY Age: 55 Death Place: WHEIP [Warrenheip] Year: 1883 Reg Number: 3692
In which case, this is his mother's death in Vic:
Surname: FRAWLEY Given Names: Susan Event: D Father: Cody Dennis Mother: Margaret Age: 68 Birth Place: CLAR Year: 1864 Reg Number: 7180
A Susan FRAWLEY (46) arrived in Vic in May 1858 as an assisted pasenger on 'Parsee', along with Patrick (26) and Bridget (24).
Likely arrival for Michael in Nov 1857 aged 26 with James (24), Margaret (29), Patrick (22) and Thos (19).
I can't see Richard's arrival.
Best bet would be to order the death cert of Richard... go to https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=purchaseImage
It is about A$18 and is downloaded immediately as a pdf file.
Good luck!

HI Sue
Yes Rebecca SEARLE died in 1841 aged only 26 at Yarra-Yarra, Vic (NSW reg V18411679 25B/1841 or Vic reg 3614). Her death cert may not reveal much... They actually married at St James in Melbourne.
She and James had a son, James, in 1839 at Yarra, Vic.
James & Julia also had a son named James, born 1842 at Ruffey's Creek, Vic. I can't see a death for the first James though! They also married in Melbourne, Victoria (not NSW), at St Francis. She is shown as Judith NOWLAN. See www.bdm.nsw.gov.au to order, or may be cheaper through Vic site (below). Let me know if you want Vic reg details.
Arrivals in SA SEARLE James, Julia, 2 ch arrived 1846-06-07 on Union (2) from Launceston and SEARLE (James?), wife (Julia nee NOLAN, John Jas, dau, Hy?) arrived 1847-05-03 on Theresa from London v Plymouth 1847-01-19
Might be worth checking Tasmanian bdms (try www.raogk.org). It also seems they went back to the UK sometime between 1846 and 1847.
Here's 2 births in SA, may be others: SEARLE Edward born 1848-06-10 at Reed Beds, father SEARLE James, mother NOWLIND Julia SEARLE Mark born 1853-06-21 at Reed Beds, father SEARLE James, mother NOWLING Julia
There is a snippet in the South Australian newspaper on Saturday 27 May 1865 about Mr. James Searle, of Reedbeds, formerly of Sussex, England, aged 75 years.
I think Julia died in SA in 1901 as there is an application regarding her lost will made by Mark Searle. It appears Mark was a farmer in the Prospect area.
Try Kerri's thread on this board for SA lookups. :-)
Cheers Cherilyn
