If you are not in the Inbox - once you click on the Message Tab above and when it opens up - on the left handside you will see a list - click on the 'Inbox' and then open up the message from myself.
The site is okay to use once you get used to it...bit strange when you are going from different family history sites...I was confused myself when I first started.

Hi
There was a lot of young men who lied about their age so that they could serve in the Army.
I came across a medal card on Ancestry for a Andrew Kilpatrick. He had Regimental No's 14493 and 17734 against him.
14493 was M.G.C in which he was down as a Sgt and the 17734 was against the K.O.S.B
On the medal card he had a British Victory medal - Roll No. MGC/101 B9 pge 943

Possible birth for Andrew:-
o Date Surname Forename Parent Names/Frame No. Sex Parish City/County GROS Data 1 07/04/1793 KIRKPATRICK ANDREW (JOHN KIRKPATRICK) / M TORTHORWALD /DUMFRIES 850/ 0010 0066
but this one gives fathers name as John and not David so need to see the marriage cert for Andrew and Jean to see the name of father on there.
Possible birth for Jean:- JEAN AFFLECK - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 19 JUN 1804 Ruthwell, Dumfries, Scotland Father: SAMMUELL AFFLECK Mother: AGNESS REED
the marriage cert. should confirm, or not, parents names.
found on familysearch:- Jean AFFLECK Female Event(s): Birth: About 1805 Christening: Death: 1866 Drumberg Farm, Torthorwald, Dumfries, Scotland Burial: Marriages: Spouse: Andrew KIRKPATRICK Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.
there is another record:- Jane Affleck - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: About 1804 Of, Dumfries, Dumfries, Scotland Spouse: John Erbson Marriage: 05 JUN 1825 Dumfries, Dumfries, Scotland
so there seems to be two Jean's born abt. the same time and as both records are submitted they would need confirming with Scotlands People.

Spoil my fun would ye? Grrrr!
Not at all, I'm very new at this, and you've found in a day what it might have taken me months to work out how to search for. I'm just about keeping up with you, analysing it and working out who's who. The John Lockerbie of Dumfries connection is a major find, as is the fact that his wife was a KIRKpatrick. At first I thought that was maybe a typo, but when her father's info came in, I was astounded. I have to wonder, when she was widowed, what caused her to move to Fife and, within a few years, marry Charles KILpatrick? I wonder if there was maybe some family connection?
I spoke with my mum earlier, and she has vague memories of a first date (!) visit with my Dad to the 'step' relatives at Dunfermline. Likewise, she remembers my Dad's mother talking of Annie Thorpe Cook.
Prior to this, I knew nothing at all of the Dumfries connection, other than that there was one... and, of course, the infamous events of the 14th C concerning Robert the Bruce and John Comyn who was stabbed by Bruce. Rushing out to his escorts Bruce told them, “I doubt I have slain Comyn.” Roger Kirkpatrick, saying “I mak siccar” (I’ll make certain) ran into the building and finding Comyn wounded but alive, stabbed him to the heart. .. So, uhm... there's now only a 500 year gap to fill!!!

Hi Catherine
Well done you.
Late night last night and William's birth cert was very poor...find that in Dumfries certs (I have some people from that area in my own tree and found the certs on Scotlandspeople to be a bit faded).
Mary Jane and John Lockerbie was married on 8 December 1885, Redhills, Torthorwald, Dumfries.
Can't make out John's occupation as another poor cert, but he lived at Redhill Farm along with Mary and her father James, Farmer and mother Elizabeth (Looks like Wilken) Henderson.
Both John's parent;s were dead when he got married - Father William (Can;t make out occupation, but looks like same as John's) and Jane Rae, Mother.
So all info you have found below is correct.
John was 28 years old and Mary was 24 years old when they got married. Married by John Gillespie, Minister.
Witnesses to marrige was Maggie Kirkpatrick and William again what looks like Wilken - this could be Wilson.
