Gary,

You need to read the beginning of the thread, the same family were found in 1881 but George was using his middle name of James.

The child Florence in that census died.

ok is that census just geogre and emma because the chirdren were not born until 1882 and 1884 and emma died in 1885

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 16 Dec 2009 18:12

Gary,

It has been shown that the marriage of George James to Emma Williams is unlikely to be the correct one as they have been found on the census and did not have children named Stanley and Daisy

The only way to trace the correct family is to buy the birth cert.

Emma's death would be listed under Emma Lusty not Williams.

Could this be their marriage but it is not in London but Gloucestershire ?Avon??

You still need to buy the birth certificate to be sure - it could be £7 well spent!

on the baptism record its got emma and george as parents but am not sure but i think her birth name wos williams but my mother has always said his mother died ggiving birth to him and she wos from cork in ireland but i found an emma williams who died in 1885 after the bith of daisy so that dont seem right

rootgatherer Report 16 Dec 2009 16:20

Right Gary - that's the same child as the birth was posted earlier. IF you buy the birth certificate it will give you his father's occupation and it may then be possible to trace the family on census records. It will also give you his mother's maiden surname.

rootgatherer Report 16 Dec 2009 16:12

Sorry Gary - still reading the details of that Stanley. His personal effects were passed to a Mr John Lusty at the same address in Luton as Stanley was unmarried. Mr John Lusty of 121 Ashton Road, Luton was his father and next of kin. So definately doesn't look like your man.

Lots of servicemen and women married during the wars and the marriages are normally recorded in the usual fashion - so you would still expect to see the marriage indexed.
