An update for the people who helped me with Israel. I googled his name and was astonished when google found him. It appears that he was a miner is the Astley Pit in Dukinfield and in 1874 there was a pit explosion and fire where 54 miners lost their lives. Israel lost two brothers and he identified them hence google finding him. Reading the report of this brought tears to my eyes, the youngest boy was just 12. The count of children left fatherless is staggering. The amount of wives and mothers who lost loved ones is again staggering. The thing that struck me most was the fact that Dukinfield was a small village at that time so losing that amount of men must have meant almost every house would have lost someone or be related to someone who lost their lives. Makes you think doesn't it.
