Hi, Trying to find my GGGrandmother Maria Sison born 1858 Ilkeston
Maria married 25.12.1877 St Leodegarius, Basford, Nottingham to Henry Atkinson
Father's Edwin Sison, Miner. John Atkinson, Miner
Witness Thomas Atkinson, Fanny White

My problem is i cann't find Maria before her wedding. I have lots of info but cann't tie it together
Maria died 1940 Nottingham and her will list's her as Hanah Maria
1911 census shows her daughter Nellie [elen on census] with aunt Betsy Murden, Betsy was Syson before her marriage and tracing back find her father was Abraham and mother Hannah Farnsworth
Hannah had a sister Frances who married William White, Their daughter Fanny married Thomas Atkinson [see witness Maria's wedding ] Every thing seem's to link Maria to Abraham's family but why EDWIN on her marriage.
Another set of eye's may be able to help me :-S
Thanks
Serena

Hi Derek

Thomas Rutland (born about 1790 in Longford) married Sarah possibly Bird (born about 1787 in Stanton by Bridge) approximately 1811 at Stanton. Could you confirm that Sarah's maiden name was Bird and help with any information about their parents. I have no details about Sarah's parentage but believe Thomas' parents were William Rutland and Mary Bakewell, married 1795 in Sutton on the Hill ?

Census records confirm that from 1841 the couple were living at Longford. Whist looking could you also confirm the birth place of my GGG grandfather William Rutland born about 1815 in either Stanton or Longford. He married Emma Stone, previously Clarke in 1844 in Longford.

Thanks
Susan

Hi Derek

Thanks very much for looking. I think that Mary (1696) is the sister of my 7 x gt grandfather, Thomas Beardmore, bapt in Duffield in 1675 to Isaac. Isaac married Mary Nodyn also in Duffield. There are so many Beardmore marriages in Duffield, but hardly any baptisms or burials. I have found details of a letter of Admin for Isaac Beardmore of South Wingfield dated 1699, so I was hoping there may be a burial. I phoned the Derby Records office this afternoon and the only suggestion they could make is that they may have been Quakers and also to check the Crich & Pentrich PR's. I think I will invest in the CD of Crich. It looks like they moved around a bit.

Thanks once again
Carol

Hello Carol....there are no BEARDSMORE's anywhere in the South Wingfield Records.......

There is a burial for SAMUEL BEARDMORE 07.11.1848 aged 52..and four BEARDMORE marriages.....

Ann 06.05.1701..to Matthew Marsh
ABRAHAM 07.01.1727..to Ruth Hatter
Mary 29.09.1743 to John Harrison
Thomas 22.01.1781 to Elizabeth Woodhouse......
whilst I was at Matlock..I was given a tip to look at Crich..which i have just done..if you think any of these are any good to you..just ask.....

19 Crich baptisms for BEARDMORE.....earliest of which is MARY daughter of Isaac 20.08.1696..then no more till REBECCA daughter of Thomas and Rebecca 12.07.1761

7 Beardmore marriages from 1780 onwards.......BUT one for..HENRY BEARDSMORE who married Ann Wright 15.10.1634.

31 Beardmore Burials between up to 1836..the earliest of which were:

Ann buried 13.11.1636 wife of Henry
Abraham son of Thomas buried 25.03.1683.......

Let me know what you think.

Derek.

Hi Derek.

No Problem, thanks very much for your time. Do you have South Wingfield PR's on CD. If so, can you see if their is a burial for a Isaac Beardmore around 1698 ish.

Thanks once again.

Hell carol.......I'm not surprised that you cannot find the children in the PR's....I tried my hardest bu the early Duffield Registers are virtually unreadable without specialist equipment..... sorry.

I have the Heage registers in full..but hey don't start till 1839.before which it was Duffield..as were Heanor and Belper.

Hello Warwick..........I regret to tell you there is NO marriage for Mary Revell at Staveley....sorry for the delay......I have been checking other records....were they catholic of non-conformist???? which would explain a Civil registration of the marriage in 1841.and the lack of entry in the Parish records..

Hello Jennifer....I think this`is`probably impossible to solve, for the following reasons:

You're looking for a two year`gap that cannot possibly be filled because it sits between two Censuses.you'd have to find him on the 1891, which we haven't been able to do.

You say that the mother lied about the address 21 Richardson Street because it did not exist in 1884....are you sure about this???? because it existed in 1911..and still exists today. If it didn't exist at the time of the Birth certificate.how could she have possibly claimed it did?..unless the Birth was registered some considerable time after Birth..she must have been aware of the address...which means it existed So what is the date of Registration on the Certificate??

I suggest you're right about James being illegitimate....but not necessarily..he could simply have been born before marriage, because i have a possible marriage for Emma Louise to a Richard Bradley in 1885......posssible!! no more than that......

Another thing is this`apparent adoption and a complete change of name..I personally do not believe it.......change the surname, certainly, but not the Christian AND middle name.........it's like stripping young James of his identity.for what purpose...it appears as outrageous a`suggestion as the James Frederick Day born 1884..who enlisted in the American Armed Forces in 1942 which I found..........unless of course you have cast iron documentary evidence of the two children being one and the same...if you haven'.t.then you have to dump the idea......and if you have...that's good, and the two missing years is frankly not an issue.

I haven't abandone this..I'm still looking around1

Hi Derek
My Grandad, James Frederick Day was born 25 May 1884 in 21 Richardson Street, Derby, the thing is, that, that address did not exist at that time. Any thoughts on why Mother Emma Louisa Day, would make up a false address? I have the birth cert and there is no father's name on it.
It is beleived that Emma then went to America in 1885, and baby James was then raised by a family called John & Hannah Chamberlain and James was re-named John William Chamberlain, I next found him living in Fulham, London aged 2.
So where was he for the fist 2 years of his life, in Derby or London ???

Hi Derek,
, I
I wondered if you any records regarding the Revell fanily from Langwith in the 18thC and 19th. I have a Francis Revell born in the 1690s? marrying a Sarah Woollens around 1712 in Langworth. They had a daughter Sarah Revell in the 1720s who married a John Gervais or Jarvis. In turn they a chikd Sarah Gervais or Jarvis who married Jonathan Marsh in Langwith.in 1764.

You have previously helped with my queries on the Marsh side, so any addition info on the Revells, Woollens or Gervais/Jarvis would be appreciated

Regards

Hi Derek,
Will you check the Staveley marriage records for me please. That may give us the correct Mary REV***. I think the marriage was 1/10/41 at Staveley.
What is IGI?

Hello Carol..Duffield,Belper, Heanor have always been a problem......you may have read that I am visitng Matlock Records office tomorrow.and your enquiry will be on the list!.I'm hiping that the Duffield records go back further thsn the 1837 that i have access to.

In the meantime i have found two things for you:-

Abraham Beardsmore married Ruth Hatter at South Wingfield 07.01.1727..

Thomas Beardsmore married Alice Fritchley at Heage 10.07.1693..which gave her plenty of time to have loads of kids before her death in 1711..presumably of exhaustion!!!

will get back to you.

Derek.
