Hello Lorraine..one minor fault you have.....the KIRKs you are looking at came from Sheffield....as follows:-
Samuel Kirk 14.06.1693 son of Samuel married Ann Yates (b1694)..in Sheffield 29.09.1715..
Their son SAMUEL KIRK 24.07.1719 (died nov.1779 Chesterfield) married ESTHERS BROADHEAD (Not Elizabeth Broadbent) in Sheffield 30.11.1742.......their only son (as far as i can find) SAMUEL was baptised 12.10.1743 again in Sheffield....
SAMUEL KIRK(1743) married MARY HEATH 26.12.1759 in Bakewell..don't ask me why..becasue she was born in Chesterfield and moved to Bakewell...The Bakewell PR's specifically state SAMUEL KIRK of Sheffield.so its the right one.
They then moved back to Chesterfield and had the following children;-
Samuel kirk..born 27.12.1762 baptised 27.10.1763 William 10.02.1765 died 18.08.1834 Ann 22.02.1767 Richard 08.10.1769..died 1843 Sarah 24.01.1773
There appear to be also Mary 1775 and John 1779 that i can't confirm.
As you know Samuel married Esther Heathcote and had:
William 28.01.1784 Mary 13.11.1785 Rebecca 02.09.1787 John 17.08.1791 Elizabeth 22.12.1802...all in Chesterfield.
It was after this, as you know, that the action moved to Notts.
Derek.

Hi Derek Thanks for the info on James Reaney, born 1805 in Dronfield, but living in Sheffield by 1841. Yes, he is the one I was interested in. Any further info you have on his father William Reyney (later Reaney) born 1776 in Eckington, and his ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Leigh

In addition to message below.......
NATANIEL CLAMP was baptised18.04.1813 Newton Regis Warwickshire..son of Susannah Clamp..no father..except that susannah had other children .Susanna same baptism date as nathaniel..and kitty 04.06.1806..which leads me to believe she was the same Susanna Clamp who had an earlier (infant death) Nataniel 17.03.1807..to a NATHANIEL BIRD......did anyone ever bother getting married in your family?? :-0
without the Oakthorpe parish records i cannot confirm that Nathaniel married Leah in 1841..in fact I doubt it doubt it..because their daughter leah was born 1839..and ELIJAH..not Eliza!..was baptised at Newton regis 06.08.1843. There is a "submitted" IGI entry for a marriage "about 1835" Oakthorpe...when i go to matlock next i should be able to confirm that.
Derek.

Hi Derek, You said to ask - but you may regret this.........a bit of background information. I will start with my GG grandmother and work backwards as its easier.
SUSAN NEWB0ROUGH or Newbrough (spellings vary) was born 2 Dec 1855 in Austrey, Warwickshire. (Oddly her birth was not registered until 17 Nay 1856?) She was the daughter of JOHN SANDERS NEWBOROUGH (a bricklayer) and LEAH WARD. This info has been confirmed by a birth cert.
If the information I have is correct......JOHN SANDERS NEWBOROUGH was the illegitimate son of ELIZABETH NEWBOROUGH AND JOHN SANDERS. JOHN SANDERS was born approx 1815/17 in Birmingham ? the son of John Alexander Sanders and Mary Ann. The family were liquor merchants and gunmakers. (Sanders Gun Makers of Birmingham, Loughborough and Leicester) John Sanders is listed as Master Gun Smith and Wine and Spirit Dealer in 1851. I don’t think that John Sanders and Elizabeth Newborough were ever married as he went on to marry somebody else in 1837.......and Elizabeth was married in 1833 to a Robert Arnold. Any details of the liaison are not forthcoming.....
JOHN SANDERS NEWBOROUGH was using the name Sanders in 1841 but by 1851 is using the name Newborough. He was married to LEAH WARD (b1835) at Austrey on 23 July 1855. He is still using the name Newborough although his marriage cert confirms his father as John Sanders.
ELIZABETH NEWBOROUGH was born 1803 at Orton on the Hill, Leics.........As far as I am aware (but unconfirmed) she married Robert Arnold in 1833.
Now this is where it gets a bit confusing...... too many Leah's.......and need your help....Have given you all that I know.....
LEAH WARD (Junior) born 1835/6 at Oakthorpe was the daughter of LEAH WARD (Senior) born about 1816 at Smisby and possibly Joseph White.....I have no information about him except that he was a blacksmith, this is from Leahs (Junior) marriage cert to John Sanders Newborough.
LEAH WARD (senior) b1816 was married to Nathanial Clamp in Donnisthorpe on 31 Oct 1841. On the marriage cert her father is listed as John Smith..blacksmith. No details of Nathanial Clamps father are given..........but Nathaniel was a blacksmith.
I think Leah (1816) and Nathaniel went on to have Leah..another one....but Clamp (1839) Elizabeth( 1842) and Elijah(1843) Clamp. Possibly all born in Oakthorpe....
If I have the correct details the parents of LEAH WARD (1816) are ELIZABETH WARD b about 1796 in Tutbury and JOHN CASHMORE (casmore) born abt 1796... possibly Ashby. Elizabeth and John may have been married at Smisby in 1816. John Cashmore was a nailmaker and was transported to Tasmania in 1836 for stealing an anvil. He was pardoned in 1844 and possibly returned to UK. .....................cant find his death or burial........Cashmore children are Elizabeth, William, Luke, Maria and Eli(jah) can you check their parentage.......
Any information you can help with confirming marriages, deaths/burials and baptisms of the WARD, WHITE, CLAMP, SMITH AND CASHMORE families would be wonderful. So far don’t appear to find any marriages between any of the Ward girls to their daughters fathers. Said there was a lot of naughty goings on.......Seems to be quite the thing to do in this family...
Sorry its a bit of a mess.........No rush to have a look, appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks Susan

Hello Derek,
Ooo I am so happy...THANK YOU so very much.
Now I have George Gregory's death date I thought I would send for the certificate to see what the cause of death was. The story is that George was a gambler and was so much in debt he was ashamed and hung himself in a shed at the side of the Aughton Primary School. As for Eliza Waller she was smoking in bed and set fire to the bedding...she was badly burnt and never recovered from it.
Reading what you have given me that George died in Aughton..it might be a true story?? I hope you hear back from Dinnington FHS.
I have names only of children of Eliza & George (Might not have got all of them) only Mary Gregory b1869 I know about because she was my Gt Grandmother.
THANK YOU Derek...YOU ARE BRILLIANT.

Hi Derek
Hope all is well with you. Sorry to bother you again but would appreciate your help if possible.
Going further back in my tree there seems to lots of naughty goings on all over the place and need some help in confirming who belongs to who. Not sure if you will be able to help though, do your records include Smisby and Oakthorpe or is it Leicestershire?
They seem to keep crossing the border between Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire.

Hello again Jenny..you've set me a good'un this time!!
However, we'll get there......
I've found Henry and George..both children of George and Catherine..maiden name may be Blaze.....among several other children..
Geroge married Eliza Waller 1868..and i have found them on the various censuses..Geroge was a Coal Miner.....
Chronologically it goes like this: 1871 both at Somercoates Alfreton 1881 both at Staveley near Chesterfield 1891..same...and they have loads of children
1901..can't find George..but Eliiza is living with her married daughter ELIZABETH BARLOW...and Elizabeth's five children..Elizabeth appears to be a widow..but ELIZA is still shown as Married......but George ain't there........and this is at Aston cum Aughton near Rotherham in Yorkshire......in view of what you tell me about his death..he may be in hospital, or prison, or an asylum.....I'll try and find out.......
1911 ELIZA GREGORY aged 62 widow is a Certified midwife living in Dinnington Rotherham Yorkshire..........
Now comes the best bit..because this was the firat bit i found and didn't believe it..but it seems to be confirmed by the paper trail I have gien you:
GEORGE GREGORY died 27.09.1903 at Aughton..buried Dinnington
ELIZA GREGORY widow born Swanwick 19.10.1849 died at Dinnington 15.01.1931.....buried at Throapham cemetery Dinnington 18.01.1931.
I have confirmed both these deaths on BMD.... How's that!!!
Henry married Elizabeth Dickenson..but haven't chased him up yet.
If you don't have all the siblings and/or children of Eliza and George..let me know.
Derek.

Hello Derek,
When you have time please could you help me with my Gregory/Waller family.
My Gt Gt grandparents were Eliza Waller b1850 Swanick & George Gregory b1848 Linwood (Lea Mills) Derbyshire. Please could you help me find the date of their death as I can't find it anywhere. My aunt quite elderly now told me that George committed suicide in Aughton and Eliza died by setting her bed on fire. I'd like to find out how true these stories are but can't find the dates.
Also have you anything on George's brother Henry Gregory b1841 Matlock I can't find him either...marriage, children etc.,
Thank you Derek Jenny X
