Hello Wendy............here are a couple of things that I have confirmed 100%......JOHN BRYANS married JANE BUCKNALL at Walon on the Wolds 04.03.1704..and had load of children..whose baptism dates i have if you want them........interesting how most of the names are perpetuated in the next generation children of John and Mary.........quite a few infant deaths and "replacements"..for instance John 1711 who married Mary Luin was a replacement for a John born 17.10.1708..dies 10.12.1708..... |

Hello Wendy........two problems...one is the very few John Bryans..and the very large number of John Bryan without the "s".......also you quote a marriage at Calke Derbyshire 1830.............which actually took place 10.05.1730..between John Bryan and Mary Luin..........again no "s"..........HELP!!! |

Hello Rita......well you've done pretty well to get as far as you have !!..and I doubt you'll get much further unless any of you ILES people were people of note..or married into nobility.......because Parish Records before about 1550 are very rare indeed..and most of them are totally unreadable. |

Hi Derek, re George Ross, yes his wife was Sarah, they were married at St Peters in Wolverhampton April 1818, and had 12 kids, their oldest Mary was baptised July 1818 at St Michael and All Angels, in Pelsall, I believe it is or was C of E, only 3 months after the marriage, the second child Joseph was baptised at the RC church Bloxwich as were many of the other children. I did find a George baptised July 1794, at St Peter and Paul RC in Wolverhampton, it seems a bit of a stretch. There are other Georges, baptisms but mostly in Yorkshire Perhaps a silly question, when you look up records, either at churches or at the matlock office, are you looking at transcribed records, the original or copies of the original? Transcribed records often seem to have rather obvious mistakes, I have seen in George's census records 3 members listed as last name Ross, and the other ones as Ropp on the same census and I would assume the same person transcribed the whole page. |

Hi Barbara doozies?????.....I have a special side line when I'm bored ,,of picking bones in the doozies \trees............its so easy sometimes to find the perpetrators..who simply copy ad infinitum a mistake that leads to others......and when you see an obvious mistake...............like the one you mention..which I also found.......then I have fun!! |
