It's a Derbyshire thing,we change boundaries all the time.We also call things by names that are made up like blood bath yard down west end.You have to have been born in derbyshire to understand it.

The landlady on the 1911 census is Elizabeth Clarke a widow born 1836 in
Mickleover.
There is also a servant Emma Vaughn who is single living there born 1892
In Hilton.

Hello Julie.I can't find it either.the official address is 20 Uttoxeter Road Mickleover..and for some reason the 1911 will not give me Uttoeter Road.

I think your landlady friend needs to contact the Brewery..somewhere there will be a history of the Pub.....Newspaper Archives are bound to have it somewhere......

If i could find someone else by name..living on Uttoxeter Road I could then work through the enumeratots books,,,,,,but what is No.20 now, was probably not No.20 in 1911...............It's a very long Road.I know it well!!

Hi Derek,

Your my last hope. I've been searching the 1911 census without success. I'm trying to find out, for the Landlady of The Vine Inn at Mickleover (my local), who the landlord was in 1911. She's adding to the plaque on the wall. We have all the other Landlords from 1851, but I can't find it on the 1911 census. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you very much Derek for all your help. The Bonningtons should keep me going for a while. I live in Hertfordshire but my dad was from Nottingham living in Maltby Close, Aspley with his parents and I was taken to Wollaton Park as a young child.

I have had a good look at your Tree, and it is quite useful to have it, because i can find bits and bobs for you to add to it when i get bored!!

OK.here are some BONNINGTONS going backwards from your CHRISTIANA BONNINGTON baptised 01.10.1787 at Breadsall..daughter of Joseph and Ann.

As a matter of interest I have a marriage for one of her brothers..SAMUELBONNINGTON bapt 22.01.1789...married SARAH LONSDALE (born 1794.).and raised a family between 1815 and 1836 in WOLLATON!! Nottingham.....virtually in the same place and timescale as Christiana and James BANNER

Both Christiana and Samuel..and the several others you already have.were children of;-
JOSEPH BONNINGTON of Breadsall born c1760..but not baptised until 24.04.1768..don't worry, that was very common...who married ANN HIBBERT 08.03.1779 at St. Peter's Derby....who was baptised 28.12.1763 at Morley ..daughter of Samuel Hibbert and Mary.....

Joseph Bonnington 1760 was the son of JOSEPH BONNINGTON 1742-1821..baptised Breadsall 24.06.1742 died there 28.12.1821..who married RACHEL MATHER of Pentrich 01.04.1764

Joseph was the youngest of at least five children of:-

MICHAEL BONNINGTON 29.08.1697 Duffield..died 23.05.1762 Breadsall....who married ELIZABETH PORTER STANLEY at Duffield 24.11.1731

MIchael Bonnington was the son of Anthony Bonnington born and ided in Duffield 18.06.1671--- 27.05,1714

I'm fairly happy with all this..but will check 100% when i go to Matlock and see the original Breadsall records (before 1813)

Couple of late additions........Anthony 1645 of Duffield was father to Anthony 1671..no other details.
Baptism date for Michael Bonnington brother of Christian..06.12.1784
Ann Hibbert wife of Joseph Bonnington.born St peters Derby 1748 buried Breadsall 25.02.1819

Samuel Bonnington brother of Christian married SARAH LANSDALE at Bramcote 19.06.1815......and they lived in Wollaton

Evening Derek and Chrissie, just nosing on the thread and noticed you mentioned NBI for the Pashleys. I took a look and they are not on it as I have a recent copy of the disc

Hi Chrissie..I actually took a ride up the M1 to Bolsover..without much luck I'm afraid.

I have never seen such vandalism in a Churchyard..quite appalling. First I had a look in the churchyard..then there is a cemetery a few hundred yards away. but the main modern overflow for the Church is actually near Nether Langwith at a place called WHALEY THORNS......a very extensive cemetery, but in places disgustingly vandalised..and if your pair were buried in Bolsover then they would have been there....but unless i missed them, they are not.
It was quite fun..but bitterly cold!
I think the answer might be the NBI..NATIONAL BURIAL INDEX..which I don't have........because there are a large number of Burials in the Chesterfield registration District...

I'll see what i can find at Matlock.

Hi Chrissie........sorry for the delay.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to help, but I will look.

They were both buried in Chesterfield Registration District,,which could be any of about 35 different Parishes; But since you mention they both lived in Bolsover, that may be the answer.............but in my experience most of the later burials are often "still held by Church"..so which Church do we go to..even if its open..etc.etc.

What I will do, if the weather improves, is take a run out to Bolsover and do a bit of Graveyard/Cemetery hunting............that way we might hit the Bulls eye,,or we might draw a blank.

Hi Derek , you have been busy thank you so much it adds to the picture.
When you were going through finding information did you notice if Edith had any children,also Genes found that she had 2 brothers Arthur Wollesley Reed b 1907 married to Doris Harriett Randle b 1904 ,any children,and Francis Woolcott Reed b 1909 ,did he marry, any children.
I would be interested to know where Wellesley or Wollesley 2nd names came from did you come across them in your search.

Hi Sheila..against all the odds, i think we've cracked it.

The marriage certificate was not much help at first because Sylvester Horn was not to be found anywhere.......until I looked at the witnesses and wheels began to turn.....Mary Angela Horn and Gerald F Horn...........Sylvester was deceased so they could be mother and father or wife and son,, or what?
Since Sylvester Horn and Mary Angela are not a likely combination, it was easy to look for a marriage.Bingo!

So Number One: William's parents were Sylvester Horn and Mary Angela McGoldrick of West Derby liverpool..married there 27.11.1899

Number two:-..Mary Angela McGoldrick born 1870 Liverpool..daughter of DENIS MCGOLDRICK 1843 Armagh Ireland and MARY NEE THRELFALL 1849 Preston

But no Sylvester or William Bernard........I'm thinking Catholics..Liverpool...maybe Irish Catholics..I eventually found Sylvester and his five siblings in Liverpool........and after delving around a bit found him in 1901 and 1911 in Cork Ireland..with SIX children all born there...........between 1903 and 1910 including Gerald F.

William Bernard Horn at some point returned to England and married Edith in Bristol

SYLVESTER HORN 1874 Preston was one fo six children of JINETTE nee PARKINSON 1840 Preston and WILLIAM HENRY HORN 1836 Liverpool..who married in Preston AMJ 1866

Jinette Parkinson was one of four children of Thomas Parkinson 1806 and grace 1808............

Becasue they were all Catholics actual parish Baptisms are hard to come..and there are too many alternative for both the Parkinsons and the Horns to be sure of whois who..and i don't guess.

So............

Sylvester Horn born 1874 Liverpool........was in 1917 Chief Engineer on board the SS Aylevarroo..out of Limerick..........on 08.10.1917..aged 43 he was killed when his ship was torpedoed by U57 and went down with all hands........

His Mercantile marine memorial notes his parents as Jenetter and William Henry Horn..and his wife as Mary Angela Horn nee McGoldrick..who at some point returned to England and was living at 26 Oban Road..Liverpool

Sylvester is shown as being born at Myerscough Preston Lancs 1874...

if I've made any glaring mistakes or you need any clarification..give me a yell.
