Hi Tui........Brekinone is a mistranscription.......but t written so clearly on the Census that I can't get a clue as to where it might be.....the obvious is Bakewell..but that doesn't work......I have found some evidence that it might be Scarcliffe??????????

Finally found the marriage on FMP. I really don't like using FMP since they've changed the site, don't find it at all user friendly.

You were right, they didn't marry in church it was Chesterfield Register office.

Hello Chrissie.......I cannot find this marriage anywhere.....which means ony one thing..It was not a Church Marriage......something that can only be confirmed, or denied, by purchase of the Marriage Certificate......

Hi Derek - Here's another puzzle. I have been researching a family called Coop or Coup or Coupe or in fact Doupe on the 1851 Census. John Doupe (actually Coop, Coup or Coope) b 1798 is shown as being born in Brekinone in Derbyshire. Does this place exist or is it a spelling error? I am also curious about Sarah Grason b 1776 in Braithwell Yorkshire. She is 75 at this stage but is shown as Head of the Household and her occupation listed as Pauper. Does this mean she would be on a parish benefit?

Hi Lorraine.......Ilkeston St Mary...MARY ANN ALDRED baptised 14.10.1832..daughter of Joseph and Ann..(Joseph was a Lacemaker)

But you'll have the Devil's own job finding her unless you know the following:-

Joseph Aldred married ANN JACKSON 04.03 1828..and had four children..but by 1851 he was dead, and Ann had remarried to a William Straw,who himself brought five children to his second marriage

Hello Derek - Just noticed another peculiarity on the 1851 census records for William Hanson b 1817 and his clan living at Woodend. Elizabeth Frost b 1839 in Heanor is shown as daughter-in-law which I initially thought meant sister-in-law but now on reflection seems to imply step daughter.

Hi Sally.this is a bit of a disaster.........I cannot find a marriage of William Purdy to Jane..........though a few Ancestry Familytrees give her name as Jane Chapman..but whoever was the original contributor (the rest have all been copied without any research) he or she has no evidence or Source for such a marriage.......

The seven children of William and Jane are fine.......all the same family..from Mapperley, Kirk Hallam.

I have the baptism dates if you want them..from the Kitk Hallam Parish Records...

I'm trying to establish a familial link between Joseph Bradley 1859 and John Bradley 1834. The only time I find them together is in the 1861 census, however, for some reason the family seems to live part a lot and therefore that may be the reason they don't come together again. Also, Joseph doesn't appear with his mother again either. In 1881 Joseph is cited as being from 'Nottinghamshire' but I think this is because he is in the middle of there and Derbyshire. Is mother is Catharine Bradley nee Abbot. At each cenus Joseph is cited as coming from - Codnor, Selby, Nottinghamshire, Ironville so Im tring to make sure Im tracking the right one! I have 'his' birth certificate that states that his grandfather is George Bradley - born Nottinghamshire. He had several siblings over the years but only ever lived at census time with the 1861 ones. His mother for some reason in 1871 is in Sheffield with a daughter name Ameria - which I think may have been Amelia Annie as that is the only possible birth in Sheffield at that time and later as she is older she is back in Derbyshire living with her brother Christopher who the year before was in the workhouse. My concern is that my Joseph Bradley 1859 - who settled and died in Middlesbrough is NOT the son of John and grandson of George and that Im following the branch. Any chance you may have any parish records that could corroborate any of the links? Thanks in advance Kate x
