Hi Gooner............I have found William Thorp 29.05.1809..mother Ann...but the father Thomas and the marriage..eludes me...certainly did not take place at Repton.

Strabgely there is a Thomas Thorp married Ann Ward 25.03.1824 Repton and a number of Baptisms between 1809 and 1837 with parents Thomas and Ann, but at this moment it is not possible to be really sure which kids beong to which Thomas and Ann..by the way..the marriage in 1824 might be the elder brother of William 1809.........and guess what!!!!!..they're bleedin' Butchers!!

I am back on the case to make headway with my Banner family but am stuck at James Banner born/baptised in 1776? in Breadsall? (though I do not know where I got that information). James and Christian were married in Breadsall on 24/5/1804. Their children are John (1804-1861), Sarah (1816) and Joseph (1820) - I have not found any others but the gap between 1804 and 1816 is quite big.
I have tried to find death records for James Banner and Christian(a) Banner prior to 1840 because I have not found them in any censuses but have failed with this.
I have found John Banner on both the 1851 (born Breadsall) and 1861 (born Greasley) censuses. I have found his baptism as 1804 in Breadsall which is where his mother Christian Bonnington & her family were from. There are a lot of Banners around that time in Greasley so I speculate that John was born in Greasley and baptised in Breadsall (also where his parents were married).
So I have tried to trace James using Greasley and widening to Notts and Derbyshire. There is a James baptised 1781 in Hucknall Tockard but don't know if that makes sense. This James aged 70 is married to Ann (aged 52) in the 1851 census and living in the same household as a son James aged 39 and a daughter Catherine Banner aged 10 so it looks like Ann is a 2nd wife to this Hucknall Tockard James. This does not mean that HT James is my James. So I am wondering if Christian died prior to 1840 and my James did go on to marry Ann.

Hi Derek,
Lovely to be back!
On one of the last threads from 2011, not sure which one, you said you have details of the life, children and addresses of the family of Elizabeth and Thomas Fox if I didn't have them and to let you know because you did! Did you mean different information to that I already have at present?

Joyce ;-)

Hello Derek, I don't know if you will remember all the way back to 21 Jan 2011, thread 45! You found all the information on The Fox and Earp family that I was struggling to find. You also said you have details of the life, children and addresses of the family of Elizabeth and Thomas Fox if I didn't have them and to let you know because you did! Any chance of the details now if you still have them please?

Thank you

Joyce

Why does this not surprise me with these Meashams ;-). Can you try and sort this enigma for me please as I have lost the plot with these two .

Thank you

Derek

Derek Report 18 Jan 2015 21:33

Hi LA...........just a quickie for now..in case you thought I was ignoring you.

Your first Fanny Measham was baptised Repton 24.07.1842, one of seven children of William Measham and Elizabeth nee Wooton.

She appears NOT to have married because i can trace her definitely into 1891, when she is a spinster Aunt..in her 50th year......but she might be the other one!!!!
Briefly she is with her parents in 1851..1871she is a servant..and in 1881 she is living with her unmarried sister Hannah..two years younger than her at Willington.....the trick that identifies her almost definitely is that WILLIAM MEASHAM is Ag.Lab..and she is described more than once as "Labourer's daughter".

I have found Fanny 1845...........but work to do.

EDIT21.57.......could be trouble here........1881,as I said...Fanny and her sister are together...........at Willington........Have found a marriage for Fanny Measham 1888 at Willington..to a Charles Parker......20 years younger than she!!!..cats and pigeons abound!!

Derek.

Thank you Derek yes I am back on the trail of the Derbyshire branch. I will have a few more questions for you yet methinks including this one. I have 2 Fanny Meashams. I daughter of William and Elizabeth Wootton B 1842 and one born 1845 daughter of William Measham and Mary Atherley.. I cannot work out if either of these married or when they died. Any info gratefully received as always

I know how much you love my Meashams ;-) ;-)

EDIT. Where did you find the Military record you spoke of please,as I cannot find it

Derek

Derek Report 17 Jan 2015 23:28

Hi Gooner..about time you showed up!!!...........and I might even get to astound you yet again......

The simple bit is that GEORGE ALBERT ORDISH HOLLOWAY was baptised 13.08.1863 at Burton on Trent son of Aaron Thomas Hollway and FRANCES.....He from Gloucester, she from Burton on Trent.

But Frances who???? No bleedin idea.....until I looked for him on the Census.

1881...he is loving with the DAVIS family..but shown as son.........rings start to bell.....Mrs Davis is FRANCES O DAVIS.............and she was in fact FRANCES ORDISH WRAGG who married Aaron Thomas Holloway in JFM 1863........who then proceeded to die aged 24 JAS 1866................Francis Ordish Holloway then became Frances O Davis and had about five kids with Luke.
There is an interesting War record for George Albert Ordish Holloway..wife Esther.......

Phew!!!

Derek xx

Hi Derek, could you please take a look for Albert Holloway born 1863 Burton. He married Eshter Measham 1887 Burton. I believe his Dad was Aaron Thomas Holloway but have no other details for him. I also would like to know who his Mother was if possible.

Any information on these would be great, Thanks
