Derek,

If you get chance to look at Scarcliffe or Langwith records for the 1740s, on your visit to Matlock this week it would be appreciated.

I think I have mentioned there appears to be Settlement Ordes for Joseph Marsh and family and Matthew Marsh and family around 1740 and 1741 and if you could find any mention of a Jonathan Marsh in their familes, i think this would be a vital link in my Marsh family tree

Cheers
Mark

Hi Michele....re the James trevis Baptism.....am going to Matlock Records Office next week, and hopefully will find it for you..problem is........

ROBERT and MILDRED married c.1861 (probably in Wales!!)

moved around a lot...he came from Worcestershire and ahe from Radnor Wales.........they had five children..the first in Yardley Worcs..the next two in Aston Birmingham and the last two including James in Newbold Chesterfield..............now that is according to the 1881 Census.

1891 Census shows the childre all being baptised in Birmingham!! that is the three that are left..including James.......

I'll let you know next week.

Derek.

Hello Sandra..although I haven't found their marraige yet..it is unlikely that with all the children they had, they didn't at some stage get married...

..and as for splitting up an going to America..you may have noticed that i told you they were living three doors away from their son George and grandchildren in 1871.......when he was about 76!!...and she was 70.....so i think you can discount that rumour!!

Hi Derek & Tess.
Thank you both so much for all the info.
Had looked on Freebmd Tess, but couldn´t find it, probably because I never thought of Derby.
Derek, think I got a bit carried away when I put the request up. I did know that Henry was Eli´s son,but still wanted the marriage, more to find out Rebecca´s maiden name than anything.
It´s a bit of an odd story because they are related & they are not . Henry & Rebecca´s daughter Ethel married my grandmother´s brother. My grandmother was engaged to Ethel´s brother Harold, but he was killed in 1918 & she went on to marry my grandfather, causing a huge family rift & she & her brother never spoke again until after my grandfather died some 35 years later.
Families eh!!!
Thanks again.

Derek Report 8 Jun 2010 23:33

Hi again Marion.further to my message below...one of the reasons that i do well on here is that I don't do anomalies or inaccuracies......so i delved further..and gues what!..Henry Frost was NOT the son of Matthew and jane..how could he be....But he WAS the son of ELI FROST and MARIA nee Evans,.born 1858 Youlgreave.....Eli you will see below..therefore Henry was the Grandson of Matthew and Jane....
Eli married Maria Evans at bakewell in 1858.and I have a history for Maria going back to before 1774....all at Youlgreave.

She was the daughter of SAMUEL EVANS and SARAH nee COOK....and one of eight children......

I don't have confirmation of the marriage of Henry Frost..but I do know he married Rebecca as tess has told you..and the history therefrom is all on the Census .....

can give you much more if you want it.
EDIT 23.50.Have now got the full history for Rebecca Ann Gibbs one of five children of Robert and Fanny nee Peach married at Ripley 25.12.1855..some of the Gibbs ended up in Australia..
Derek.
