Hello LA.....not much luck here either...the nearest i can get is OND 1911..but as you say on the 1911 Census he is married 3 years......I'll need to go to Matlock to get the answer.
In 1901 they were living in Scarcliffe..for which I have the Parish Records up to 1910..CAROLINE BLANKSBY was buried at Scarcliffe 09.06.1903 aged 44 (wife of Herbert)..but he did not re-marry there....and by 1911 they are in Chesterfield..........I'll find the bugger!! (If he did in fact re-marry???)

Hi Derek, hope you are well. I have Herbert Blanksby born 1860 Notts. On 1911 he is living in Scarsdale Street, Chesterfield with his second wife Mary??? Born 1866 Hanley Staffs. According to census they were married in 1908 but I can find no trace of their marriage or indeed her maiden name. Any ideas please as Herbert had been in same area of Derbyshire since at 1901 I am assuming they married in that area

Would you be able to help with any information about Augusta Louisa Talbot who died in Bakewell September 1865? Augusta was born in the Cape of Good Hope in 1822 and married in 1851 James Talbot b1824 - James was a Pawnbroker in Sheffield.

Hi again Doreen..further to my previous entry 08.12 this morning....I have the marriage details for James and Lydia as well as the baptism details of their children.

John Linacre married Hannah Bound in Sheffield 03.05.1756

James Linacre married Lydia Jephson (Jepson) at NWF 20.10.1791 Lydia was baptised 10.06.1764 at Darley Derbys daughter of John and Dinah

James and Lydia had several children..two of which were twins...normally I wouldn't say that for certain because children were baptised often in paris or multiples..but in this case the sad news of their deaths so closely together prove they were twins...although two other pairs were baptised on the same dates..

Here goes:

Hannah 18.03.1793
Ann 23.04.1785
Abraham10.05.1798 died 28.05.1798
John 10.05.1798
James 06.08.1800
Mary Ann 06.08.1800
George 25.02.1803. died17.05.1803
Lydia 25.02.1803 died 22.05.1803 (Poor mother!!)
Sarah 24.06.1804 died 17.01.1811
Rebecca 20.07.1810

I'm afraid your informant on the birth of Samuel is wrong...he was bornLinekar in Nottingham 25.06.1809 son of Samuel and Elizabeth..about the same time as Lydia was pregnant (in Tupton) with Rebecca!! James and Lydia were never in Nottingham..they were in NWF and Tupton and both died in North Wingfield..Deaths:-

LYDIA 26.07.1840 aged 76
JAMES 15.08.1751 aged 87..both dates agree exactly with birthdates already given.

My sympathies are often aroused by what i find and in this case Lydia had a oretty hard time of it.
None of the surviving children appear to have married at NWF

Hello Doreen thanks for you PM.the first thing I can do is give you the parents of

JAMES LINACRE baptised NWF 24.03.1765 son of JOHN and HANNAH who were not married at NWF .....James had at least two siblings:-
JOHN 23.09.1759
THOMAS 05.12.1762..both at NWF

I am very impressed with your tree..can't think why you need my help, but I'll work through it give and you bits and bobs that will fill it out further.
Like further siblings and marriages etc...and there are also loads of burials.
Best wishes

Derek.

Derek Report 7 Sep 2010 22:38

Hello Joan.....sorry to keep you waiting........I'm afraid Dronfield is a non-starter....For your information Dronfield is near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.....Calverley is between Leeds and Bradford in Yorkshire.
Your problem is that the Schofield/Coates names proliferate in the timescale you mention.....and by the time they get onto the 18412 Census..any chance` of finding their parents has long gone...there are many many Samuel Schofield' and just as many Sarah Coates..to be able to join them up us virtually impossible.

Do you realsie that Calverley parish Records are available free on line..simply by Gooogling "Calverley"..........but no Schofields that i can see.
All the best

Derek.

Henry is the last of five children born to William and Mary Holmes 05.10.1823....forget IGI it is so often complete rubbish..and if there is a John Henry 1812 as well..great..but no mention of any Catherine anywhere in brimington records.....maybe at Staveley.I'll look.
Henry 1823 at Brimington is 100% the son of Wiliiam and MARY>

Oh What a Bummer?!!! I did find a couple of Holmes on the IGI with a William as their father.

George born 1813 in Staveley
Henry born c1823 in Brimington.

Both have a Catherine as their mother.

Hoping they're somehow related.

Could you see if John HolmesSnr was baptised and if he had any siblings, please.

He was born c1812 Brimington. Father: William Holmes, a Farmer according to his marriage to Frances Womack.

I was born in Ilkeston yes, but now live in Nottinghamshire, just over the M1.

Thanks for checking, didn't think there would be a baptism. I have his birth certificate already and have found him up to 1911 (with the exception of 1891). I don't think he knew he was illegitimate, he puts John Holmes Snr down as his father when he marries.

Derek

Derek Report 6 Sep 2010 20:42

Joy..the birth of Frederick William Holmes was registered at Chesterfield march 1863..can find no evidence that he was baptised..which was not uncommon.

Joy *The Carlos Cutie of Ilson* Report 6 Sep 2010 20:02

I have a huge collection of Womacks on my tree, from the Bawtry area of Yorkshire.

Mary Womack Holmes and Benjamin Mellors had at leat 9 children, though not all born in Chesterfield, one was even born in Stockport shortly after John Henry's death. Makes me wonder if Mary had been to pay visit to her sister, especially since she end up naming the baby Harriet. Benjamin was from Nottinghamshire and several of the children were born in Elston, Notts. Especially my Great-Grandfather, John Henry Mellors. Don't need to guess where his name came from!

John Holmes Snr married Elizabeth Womack in Bawtry in 1835, she died in 1852 and is buried in St Nicholas's Church, Bawtry. I have the inscription from her Gravestone.

He then marries Frances Womack, Elizabeth's sister, in Sheffield in 1865.

Following John's death, Frances marries a Thomas Walters in Chesterfield using her maiden name.

Incidently you wouldn't have a baptism for FREDERICK WILLIAM HOLMES would you. He's Mary Womack Holmes's illegitimate son, born 1863 in Brimington?

Derek

Derek Report 6 Sep 2010 19:47

Hello again Joy.....the WOMACH name fascinates me.trying to find its origin.....
If Mary Womach Holmes is your ancestor..you will probably know the following:-

she married BENJAMIN MELLORS 23.06.1864 ....and had at least two children:

Elizabeth Womach !! Mellors 28.01.1866 and James Arthur mellors 11.05.1881...

Have also found JOHN HENRY HOLMES baptised 08.10.1848...and a brother WILLIAM WOMACH HOLMES 31.12.1843..clealry siblings of mary womack and harriet. children of John Holmes.a butcher and Elizabeth.

Do you have any ideas about Womack/Womach??

I have pinged IGI and a lot of Womachs came from Southg Yorkshire..there must have been a marriage with the Holmes' somewhere.

Derek.
