Well further investigation did not take long but needs checking if possible please Derek. Here goes..... Matilda Elizabeth married Samuel Poxon in 1898 Don't know exactly where. Samuel was the son of Francis Poxon who married WAIT FOR IT !!!! Louisa Measham 1867 in Repton. Even better Mary I believe married William Smith born 1826 Repton son of John and !! Elizabeth Measham. Sorry to drag up the dreaded name again but this was a surprise to me as I was not investigating this branch LOL.

Hell Sharon...nice to hear from you again.....I have been through my NOTTINGHAM CITY marriages and found nothing......I also have the Nottinghamshire County Marriages to 1812..but that will take a lot of time to go through..which I don't mind, if they are there. My own feeling is that they're not..simply becasue they don't appear on IGI..and Notts is pretty well represented on IGI...........so........do you know anything else about William and Sarah that may help?..perhaps she was born out of county..very often the groom would marry in the Bride's Parish....the two children you mention were both baptised in St Mary's Nottingham......so they were not Non-conformists.....Elisabeth baptised 27.09.1759..died 04.06.1760.........and Esther baptised 22.10.1760 Just in case you find Sarah out of county...here are a couple of possible marriages......for William Freemans.. to Sarah Smith 17.05.1756 Norfolk
to..Sarah Cross 04.04.1758 in Lincs. to Sarah Stee 29.05.1759......let me know what you think.

James Talbot b1824 and Augusta Louisa Addams were married in Lewisham Q1 1851 but by 1851 Census were living in Sheffield but with no children. Still in Sheffield in 1861 with 5 children the eldest being Augusta 8 years old.

Hello Bernard............but in 1861 we have a full list of children either side of 1851..so how can he be the father of Louisa born 1851???..unless he led a very dissolute and devious life!! I'll look on IGI for any louisa Talbot born around 1851...

Thanks Derek.
I have the census records that you found and am certain that we are talking about the same James who started as a Pawnbroker then described himself as an Accountant before ending up as employed in a Department of Education as a Writer. In the 1871 Census James b 1824 described as an Accountant is listed as visiting 283 New Cross Road, Deptford where the Head of Household is a cousin of James - Henry Woolverton with wife Charlotte (39). In 1851Census Henry Woolverton (26) is living alone at 411/2 Charles Street, St Pancras and is described as an unmarried Pawnbroker Salesman born in Deptford. Henry married Charlotte Sandoe b1832 in St Pancras 1851Q4. James subsequently marries Henry’s widow Charlotte in 1884Q1. Also visiting 1871are James’ son, Francis Talbot (12) born in Sheffield and daughter Margaret (8) born in Isle of Man. The 1863 Thwaites Directory for the Isle of Man lists a James Talbot living on the Isle on Crescent Hill. There maybe a family connection to Isle of Man through James mother Sophia Garrett as there are a number of Garretts on the Isle. As daughter Margaret was born in 1863 on the Isle of Man it is something of a mystery if her mother Augusta Louisa Talbot died in Bakewell in 1865 ( ref 7 b 339).
I have traced James b1824 to his death on 30 September 1908 - his second wife Charlotte died 16 days later.
My interest in James and Augusta Louisa Talbot is because I believe that they are the parents of my great grandmother Louisa Talbot b1851 but to date I have not been able to confirm this link.

Good Morning Derek Thank you for replying. I havnt done much in the way of family research for a few months but getting back on track again. This Irons branch have caused me a few problems but the 1911 census really confused me. I am not sure I explained myself properly in the first message so here is what I have again, which does tie in with what you have:
Eli Irons married Elizabeth Fletcher in 1874 Dronfield. Between this date and the 1881 census, they had three children; Neri born 1874 in Dronfield, Elizabeth born 1875 in Dronfield, & Agnes born 1877 in Hartshay (Ripley?).
1881 census has Eli & Elizabeth with the three children and also what appears to be an illigitimate child of Elizabeth, William Edward Fletcher, at Selston, Notts.
In 1891, Eli is in Newbold as a boarder and working as a bricklayer. Also there is a William Irons but he is actually William Edward Fletcher. What I find interesting is that on the 1891 census for Wales, Eli’s wife Elizabeth is in Treflis, Breconshire at an address called Brickyard Terrace. She is listed as wife, though head of the house. Neri, Elizabeth and son Arthur Irons born 1890 are there. Arthur is listed as born in Mosborough but his burial is in 1891 Newbold so they don’t appear to have been in Wales for long. Agnes is also in Treflis working as a servant.
I have found two burials on the NBI at Newbold along with Arthur Irons of a Leah Irons and a Richard Irons. Both were buried on the same day’ 1st September 1886. I believe these are two of the children of Eli & Elizabeth that I am looking for as the name Leah appears in the Irons family a generation back.
In 1901, Eli & Elizabeth are in Mosborough with a boarder with the surname of Fletcher who is probably linked to the family of Elizabeth’s first marriage. All three surviving children that I know of; plus William Edward Fletcher have all married.
1911 has them still in Mosborough living with one grandchild (a son of Neri). They put they had been married 30 years (actually longer) and that they had had 14 children born alive with 6 still alive and 8 dead! I know one of the dead is Arthur and I believe Leah & Richard to be two more. That leaves five children to find. I am more confused with the 6 children still alive. There was their 3 surviving children and they probably counted William Edward Fletcher as a 4th. But two more?
I know that Elizabeth had two children to her first husband that died. I do wonder if for some reason, they counted these two children as two of the children that died even though Eli is not the father of them. Elizabeth was married to an Alfred Fletcher before Eli. I don’t know the marriage date but its in 1865 according to freebmd and was likely to have taken place in Heanor where she was born and where she was still living in 1871. I don’t know for sure when Alfred died but it was before 1871 as she is a widow on that census. Their two children were Alfred Henry & Maria Fletcher. They both also died.
Sorry for writing war & peace lol. Hope I have given details of everything I know.
Regards, Claire

Hello Bernard...sorry for the delay...I sent you a message, then realised i'd got my wires crossed and deleted it. It appears that wherever Augusta Louise died she was not buried at Bakewell.........I'm still looking into that.
The only place the family appears in full is on the 1861 Census. with five children..of which Arthur born 1854 died in 1868..They are in Sheffield. JAMES TALBOT was born in Greenwich Kent..and by 1871 appears to have moved back there..son james has stayed in Yorkshire.but daughter Augusta appears to be with him. The reason i'm being cautious is becasue James has changed from Pawnbroker to Accountant..and then..if he later married a sarah has become some kind of Educational writer.......The link is the birthplace of Greenwich..but at the moment it is supposition........I have the 1871 Sheffield Post office Directory and he ia not in it.
Any thought??
Derek.

Hi theresa..all i can tell you is what is on the 1851 Census..which is the only place i can find any mention of the family. WILLIAM PEARSON aged 44 is described a a Chelsea Pensioner..which means he was or had been a serving member of the Armed Forces..........probably in Th Caribbean.. Interestingly all the children were born in the West Indies and they can only have returned to Britain in the last year because William is only ONE year old..born WI..they are living with William's father RICHARD PEARSON..also from Chellaston...which is all I've got at the moment.

Hello Claire..how nice to hear from you after so long.
A very odd one this......my intial findings are at odds with what you have told me........Yes Eli Irons married Elizabeth Fletcher 12.01.1874 at Dronfield..and i have found Eli 1875 Elizabeth 1876 and Agnes 1878..on the 1881 Census when they were living at Selston Notts..There is a complete record of their whereabouts up to and including 1901.when Eli and Elizabeth were living at Eckington..with NO children Eckington is just south of Mossborough but in Derbyshire not Yorks. The common element is that ELI IRONS son of NERI and Elizabeth is a Brickmaker on every Census.......moving from Selston to Ripley to Newbold and to Eckington....on two of these occasions he is working away and is a Boarder.............just ,at this stage, passing on my initial findings..would be very strange to Find two matching ELI IRONS married to Elizabeth and being a Brickmaker.........of the right age and birthplace........or am i being as thick as the proverbial pigs..t ?? lol

Hi Derek
Would you have access to baptisms at Dronfield, Ripley and Newbold for the period of 1874 to 1900?
My great x 3 grandparents are Eli Irons & Elizabeth Fletcher formerly Beresford who married at Dronfield in 1874. I know of four of their children from census but according to what they wrote on the 1911 census, they had 14 children, 6 alive and the rest died (no idea who the other 3 alive children are!). I am trying to locate baptisms where they lived from 1874 to 1901 that would be children of these two.
After marrying in Dronfield in 1874, they had a son in the same year called Neri Irons, born Dronfield. They then had Elizabeth Irons in 1875 also Dronfield. Their daughter, Agnes was born in Hartshay, Ripley in 1875. Then there was Arthur Irons born 1890 in Mosborough. Arthur died in 1891 and I have found a burial on the NBI at Newbold. This is where father Eli is on the 1891 census.
Aft erthis, they went to Mosborough permanently before the 1901 census.
If you can help in any way with the baptisms, I much appreciate your time.
Regards Claire
