Oh yes please Derek. Also if you can can you check Sarah Atherley born 1st August 1824.I have info from another tree that she married William Sneap 16th Feb 1854 Derby. But on her headstone it states that she had a daughter Rebecca Wayte June 9th1853. (illegitimate ????) who is buried in the same grave.

Morning Derek, no I don't want the dreaded Measham information LOL. Just telling you that they have cropped up yet again !! I was working on the Atherleys on another branch when lo and behold up they turned up like the proverbial bad pennies LOL. Same with the Poxon's these damn Measham's get everywhere you can tell I am related to them can't you LOL
Regards

Derek Report 10 Oct 2010 00:23

Gooner..you are determined to get me back to the Meashams!! I can confirm that John married Elizabeth Measham....but I'll have to go back to matlock to find the rest........did i not at sometime send you all the Repton Marriages??.....or was it all the Measham marriages..........not Measham village..Measham surnames!!.........don't worry i love it..as you know..keep 'em coming!

Hello Deborah..in my experience that whole area couldn't make up its mind in which County it belonged...as you come further east it gets worse with the Yorkshire/Derbyshire Notts borders being very flexible.......but Mellor is officially Glossop/High Peak in Derbyshire............I am quite experience and maybe i can fish out discrepancies and be of some help if you send me some specific names places and dates......would be only to pleased to take it on.
I think you'll find that Mellor did not become part of the Stockport Cheshire /Manchester conglomerate (is that the right word?)..until about 1936..so most of your answers and my attempts to find them, will be in Derbyshire.

Hi Derek, there is one thing you might be able to help me with. My GG Grand parents lived in Mellor and I am now at the stage where I need to start looking at parish records, but one thing is becomming increasingly frustrating. Mellor the small village/town where they lived seems to have been in cheshire and derbyshire and back again. in fact it's all over the place. this has made things very difficult for obtaining certificates etc. Do you have any info regarding what dates it was in what county. It's a bit of a long shot and please don't worry if you don't have the info to hand. thank you for taking the time to read anyway. Deborah.

Hello Seaham lass............are you sure about Mary??????? i have the 1851 Census on which he is still living with ELizabeth..........Elizabeth died in 1855........

HEBER HILL baptised (Parish records give baptisms not births so he could have been born 1816) 20.04.1817..St Oswald's Ashbourne son of THOMAS and SARAH nee Underwood....who were married at Ashbourne 06.11.1810...........He married ELIZABETH FRETWELL at St.Mary's Nottingham 07.11.1841.....and i have her history back to South Wingfield in derbyshire.. i have all their children..and he obviously did marry again becasue there are children after 1855 when Elizabeth died.......
Not a bad start eh??
EDIT by 1871 he is again a widower..and his grandmother Sarah Underwood has moved in as a housekeeper

Children were all born in Liscoe and Codnor

Thomas 1850
Sarah J 1852
James 1854

Hello Sharon....I don't have the records for either Horsley or for Holbrook..Holbrook being in the Parish of Duffield..so a visit to matlock is necessary...which I'll be doing quite soon...........Charles Selby married Sarah Parker 04.10.1750 at Horsely..as you obviously know.......I do have the Winster records..and the nearest baptism i can get for Sarah is 1726 Winster........but this is obviously wrong.
Bear with me....I'll get back to you when i find more.

Derek.
