Have Sarah and Ann been mis-transcribed in 1881, as Sarah is only 3?
In the 1861, George is living with a wife, Lidia and next door but one to a Rigler family but no Sarah there.

Hi Sally,
Yes, this is the family. On the 1881 census, Sarah appears as George's step daughter so I suppose it's possible he had children with her??
Or it could be that Walter just put George on his wedding cert as his father, as he was the 'father figure' even though be may have just been his 'step grandfather'?! Still doesn't solve the prob of no birth cert though!
And, Barbara, thanks but that's one of the two entries I've already seen. The parents of this Walter were Walter and Mary Jane Rigler (nee Miller), they appear on alternative census returns. Thanks though x

Hey all! I'm doing some research on behalf of a friend and have come across a small stumbling block!
I'm trying to find a birth entry for Walter Rigler.
According to his marriage certificate, he was born around 1885 and his father was George Nippard.
According to his WWI records, he was born in 1883.
He was from the Bournemouth area which around this time seems to have moved counties (Hampshire/Dorset), so have searched for both counties.
On the Census returns, he appears with his father, George Nippard and mother, Sarah Rigler. There are other children, both older and younger, and it seems unclear as to the whole set up of the family. George Nippard was previously married to Lidia/Lydia and I don't think he was married to Sarah afterwards...?
On one of the Census returns, Walter appears as 'Walter Nippard' so I have searched for this entry but...nope!
There are two 'Walter Riglers' born in the Bournemouth area around this time: Walter Rigler b 1884 (reg 1885) and Albert Walter Rigler b 1884. I've ordered both certs but neither turns up a Sarah Rigler or George Nippard as a parent.
Any ideas???
