I told you so
I posted this summary of deceased Peter Farrells in Armagh on page 2:
1840-1906 >> 1817-1897 1825-1900 1818-1889
that one and the 1818 one having been the two possibilities, in view of the birthdates of the sons and the likely birthdate of wife Alice (the death record I posted on page 2).
Is there any chance that Alice's actual death certificate info would include her birth surname, oh ye Irish experts?
;-)

Peter, do you know whether any of the Farrells in the Irish census on the previous page are yours?
And how about the Stephen Farrell marriage Clover has suggested? He was the one shown in the earlier English census as married, if I recall correctly without hunting back again.
If that's his marriage, the certificate could tell you things maybe.
If the people in the Irish censuses are related, it would give you other names to use in searches backward. Sometimes if you can't find your own ancestor's baptism record, for instance, you can find a sibling's. Or, if you're looking for your ancestor's parents' records, you might find records for a parent's siblings.

Hi Clover, I am sorry if I am confusing everyone . I have reasonable records now of Michael and Margaret once they arrived in England including their marriage in church at Chorley . and their lives in Liverpool . It is his father Peter and his mother Alice ( who we believe stayed in Ireland ) that we are now interested in .

This, presumably, is the marr
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1872 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference FARREL Michael WILLIAMS Margaret Chorley Register Office or Registrar Attended Preston RO/12/164
[It could be a rego office marr, but back then, the registrar would also have to attend all non-conformist marrs.]
Just for ref The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at: https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1®ion=EUROPE
One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via: http://www.groireland.ie/
The Irish 1901/1911 censuses are free at: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ [Not heard of any release dates for next census (=1926 in both Irelands)]

These are in Ireland?
Yeah, Peter doesn't make it easy. We'd been talking England up to then.
So I assumed we were talking about this couple in the 1911:
Marriages Sep 1902 Cross William W. Derby 8b 528 > FARRELL Margaret W. Derby 8b 528 - daughter of Michael - ? > French Joshua James W. Derby 8b 528 Rigby Elizabeth Maud W. Derby 8b 528
Clarity hoped for!

Ah, excellent, the names tie up. Michael had a brother Peter and a daughter Alice.
For 34 posts, you're sounding like an old hand. ;)
There are some Peter Farrell deaths in Armagh at
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html
1840-1906 1817-1897 1825-1900 1818-1889
Only the certificates might tell something, and even they might not.
There's one Alice Farrell death:
Name: Alice Farrell Registration District: Newry Event Type: DEATHS Registration Quarter and Year: Jan - Mar 1888 Estimated Birth Year: 1818 Age (at Death): 70 Mother's Maiden Name: Film Number: 101594 Volume Number: 1 Page Number: 680 Digital Folder Number: 4200676 Image Number: 00292 Collection: Ireland, Civil Registration Indexes, 1845-1958
Could be worth considering.
The three brothers were all born before civil registration started.
