My grandfather- William Henry Kendall-Tobias (possibly no hyphen) was married in WW1 in Guernsey CHannel Islands. His father is named on the Marriage certificate as Jacob Tobias. We believe he was from Bloemfontaine (sorry about spelling) South Africa- however, we also understand my grandfather was illegitimate and "Brought up by guardians in South Africa" So was Jacob Tobias a) his natural father b) his stepfather c) his adoptive father or maybe d) his guardian.
Can anyone help???
