Hi Angela
I hope you don't mind me asking for another look up. You were really kind in finding my last family for me. It has given me a lot of new leads to follow.
Please can you see if you can find Enest Chorley born c1892 in Aston Birmingham. He married a lady called Elsie Coles but not sure when. I havent been able to find the marriage yet.
In 1911 he was living at home with his parents Frederick and sarah Chorley at 85 Hineston street.. But I do not know what happened to him after that.
Thank you so much for all your help.

Hi Angela I have been trying to trace my family for some time now and have been successful in obtaining a copy of my grandfather Frank Thomas James' birth certificate from London. He had a twin brother William John James. They were born on 5 July 1907 at 402 Longacre Ave in Birmingham (which could have been his parents house) and the midwife was an Amelia Boston. On the certificate it gives the name of my great grandfather William Charles James (01/05/1880) and my great grandmother Flora Cameron James (Dunsmore) (2/6/1882). Flora's father is believed to have been a ships captain (Capt John Dunsmore). Flora is said to have been born in East London South Africa, but I can't find any information. She is said to have returned to Scotland with her mother, who later died when Flora was 11. My great grandfather served in the Anglo Boer War and is said to have been a Sergeant Major. W C James is said to have been employed by Aveling and Porter and sent to South Africa to demonstrate and maintain the steam ploughs made by the company. No idea when this was. W C James' mother is said to have worked at the BSA small arms factory in Birmingham and died around 1949-1950. I desperately need some assistance to move forward. How can I find out more information on my great grandfather and great grandmother without knowing where they were born. Don't know if they had any brothers or sisters, but I'm almost sure they did. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Regards Peter James

Thank you for your kind offer. Please will you look for Norman H.DICKER and his wife Gertrude S. They married in Sussex in 1937 and I'm not sure when they moved to the Midlands. I would be interested to know whether a Cyril PRYCE lived with them, ....or perhaps close by.
Thank you

Hi Angi
Just to make things easy, some common surnames for you!
I'm looking for records of Alfred and Ethel Jackson. They were living at 175 Wright Road in Saltley in 1911 but later (not sure when) moved to nearby Aston Church Road (not sure of the number). Children who may possibly have appeared with them in later years before they left home were Francis Albert, Arthur Ernest and George Edward. You might find Arthur Ernest Jackson with his wife Lilian Rose / Lillian Rose / Rose after their marriage in 1934, if so that info would be very much appreciated too.
I'm also looking for Edward (or possibly Earle) Lawrence and his wife Lilian. They married in 1913 and were living at 18 Oliver Road in Erdington at that time. They may have moved after that but would have stayed in the Erdington / Aston area.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Angi - that's brilliant, thank you so much.
I knew that my dad's parents and his paternal grandparents had lived at addresses in Aston Church Road, but I hadn't realised that his maternal grandparents - and other relatives - had also lived there. There are some very interesting leads to follow up from those records, so once again thank you.
Can I be cheeky and, like Oliver, ask for more? This time, a much less common surname: Atcherley (sometimes Atcherly). That's my mum's side of the family. I suspect that all the Atcherleys are descended from one family in Shropshire around the 1400s / 1500s and I know that some were living in Birmingham during the period covered by the Electoral Rolls you have access to. When you have time could you look them up and post the details? I don't think there will be a large number but if there are a lot maybe you could split the data across two or more posts as and when you are able to?
Thanks again and keep up the good work!
